Is it normal that i despise religous people?

I seriously hate them. They completely disregard science and logic. Anytime I have a debate with one they act so elitist and like they are better than me. they have no proof and argue "faith" is all they need. I actually worked with a woman who refused to believe dinosaurs existed. she claimed they were part of an elaborate hoax to defeat religion. DUMB PEOPLE!!!!

Not all religious people are this way. The ones that are give the good religious people a bad name. Same way with atheists. Some people are assholes and some are not from all walks of life.

Uhm... I really wonder who you talk to.
I don't disregard science, I wear glasses, drive a vehicle with an internal combustion engine and am on a computer right now. Obviously I don't have a problem with science. My faith in God and my rationale for believing that science is a solid, credible source of knowledge co-exist peacefully. I apologize if you have dealt with way to many religious asshats in your day, but to call us all out for being idiots is simply to commit the same crime that religious people commit when they claim that all atheists are immoral.

I also completely disagree with the OP, but as an agnostic/atheist I'm curious as to how someone can reconcile scientific rationalism with a belief in god. Not trying to attack you, just curious.

There is the world and universe that God created. And science is the study of the mechanisms that the world and universe work by.

Wow, sooo many butt hurt freaks telling me I'm wrong but then defending there viewpoints. Its obviously an opinion question. No need to get your proverbial "panties" in a bunch. I should Elaborate that I hate the religious people who are beyond reasoning. The ones who are so simple minded that they have no interest in understanding science or the world around them. I don't discriminate or judge based on religious preferences. I completely agree with the right of religious freedom. However, I have seen and learned of more hanus acts in the name of Religon then I would care to remember. So get off the high horse Jesus freaks. I didn't blast any faith individually. If that were the case then I would understand. You people are exactly what I was speaking about. DAD, thank you for actually taking the time to understand what I meant.

      No problems.

And by the way (as I'm pretty sure you may understand this).
We DO need to speak out loud about the foolishness of religion.
It is extremely common that religious people judge others, even other religious beliefs. They do this publicly, everywhere anywhere at any time, even directly to our children!

It has come to a time in our society that we should rid ourselves of these barbaric backward and non helpful to any of society (ever really) religious belief ways.

It religious minded people cannot take the criticism (which they obviously can't!) then they are doubly confirmed as fools.

Am I being too strong? NO, we may actually save lives without religion, millions and millions of lives. Let alone the fear placed in children and millions of other atrocities all in the name of religion!
Will we lose lives as atheists? NO, actually through more research, even furthering our knowledge of the universe and life, we will ultimately SAVE lives.

People can believe in whatever they like.
I have a personal leaning towards the flying spaghetti monster in the sky, or possibly the teapot floating in space. Lol
As long as it does not affect and HURT others.

So when others say to you (or me!) that I am being too mean or bad towards religious people. Huh, tell them to take a look in the mirror. I could never be that bad to my fellow human being. I couldn't even be that cruel to any living thing, even if religious people think that no other life has a soul. Idiots.

To all religious foolish shameful people, you are going down.

I'm religious, and I think this post is pretty disrespectful. I don't go around dissing atheist, because if they don't want to believe in faith, then that's their choice. I'm not going to hate them for it. I think you may need to just get over yourself and realize everyone is not going to see things throught the same perspective as you.

      That is an anti-religious comment!
Quite obviously you don't know that, as per the norm with religious people.

Let me ask you this. If I (or a sweet little girl who loves life and is good to everyone, but dies young of a freak accident)
Decide to NEVER take 'Jesus' (you know the LIAR) into my heart and have a 'relationship' (queer!) with him. Am I (and the sweet little girl) going to burn in hell when I die, in your view?

Because if so, then should I re-word your 'friendly' comment again:

"I don't go around dissing atheist, as they will burn in hell anyway! because if they don't want to believe in faith, then that's their choice to burn in hell."

How sweet of you to say!

By the way, I don't think you're going to burn in hell if you STOP believing in fairy tales. Since there is no hell obviously! Oh but the 'hate' you speak of is MUCH worse than an eternity in hell? Fools.

Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Damn! Slow down! You're taking this whole thing out of context! Yeah, I believe in the Christian faith, but who am I to say who is going to Hell and who is not. That is not my call! That's God's call. I never said anyone was going to Hell, and quite frankly, I don't live my life so "perfect" either. And any Christians who are willing to judge isn't following the bible themselves. You are grouping all Christians into one. I can be religious without being a freak that thinks everyone is going to Hell! I don't know what events my have happened in your history that made you hate Christians, but you need to chill, bro! Seriously!

Oh its "gods call", being the one you follow?
Oh dear I wouldn't have anything to do with such an unmorally, mean, supernatural.
I don't know what events happened in your history that made you think that this would a good thing to do? You know you weren't born this way! I think parents have a lot to answer for. Good luck with getting out of this bad crowd, I'll be wishing the best for you.

Oh and since Bibles MUST be interpreted (as per all religious sermons) PLEASE make sure not to ever give a child a bible, they may actually stone people to death, or believe slaves are a good thing (its all that bad book bible, and LOTS more 'disrespectful' things.

You know they strung up this jesus fool (I actually think liar, because its more likely he was just trying to save his mom from being stoned to death, plus also its natural to rebel against authority when you're young) Do you honestly think that the power that be would crucify the 'son of god' who performed magical miracles, just for political power? No no, EVERYONE at the time didn't believe him, and there were no miracles! I mean seriously there was no tv or Internet back then (how convenient) in the Middle East. And you honestly feel that he performed miracles and they still crucified him! Wow they were meaner than your god! (well no actually, because your god says an eternity of pain! I say we should kill him, what do you think? Yes?)

Since people have only been here 200,000 years of this 13.7 BILLION year existence of the universe, it seriously makes NO sense at all why you feel one lifeform (people) are so important to everything. You know the intelligent life aliens that are likely out there won't take too kind to your thoughts! Don't worry too much though because religion changes to suit with every fact uncovered. They are hypocrites and liars, and worst part is they lie to themselves, that is called FOOLISH!

          That's why :) And you?

I think your right, I definitely hate dumb people. But in all honesty, and it's just my opinion, I think religion is man made. So thinking that way I have to look at things like the crusades, inquisition, countless murders/sacrifices and say that I hate religious people. I do, misguided as it may be. But Religon has been responsible for more pain and suffering then it will ever be able to counter with good deeds. I was baptised catholic and my extended family is devoutly religious. I became a pariah when I questioned our beleifs. I don't know, something about childmolesters that has me questioning our religious leaders. It's all corrupt, hypocritical, douchebags.

I don't think Parrish understands what you meant.
Yes there are 'assholes' everywhere you go, but this has nothing to do with fact and reason.

If you live in the US (or the middle east!) then you likely see this crazy religious stuff everywhere. Be aware its not worldwide. ie Most countries do not have all these banners and huge signs and 40% of the population stating the world is only 6,000 years old; and everything else (ie evidence and facts that have been confirmed before that) are only there to test religos faith!!! Absolutely ridiculous.

So I fully appreciate your despise for them.
There are just too many obvious examples to state.
Let it be known that there is not any whatsoever (zero) evidence in an all powerful deity, over the entire 200,000 years of humans living in this 4,500,000,000 year old Earth (and our immediate solar system) and 13,700,000,000 year old universe. NONE, not even the slightest of proof in any god at all.

The 'facts' about the universe (and more things are still being discovered today) have mountains of facts. And they ALL point to science and natural evolution OBVIOUSLY.

    Edit//

There are no 'good' religious people (as commented above)
They are ALL foolish, and ideally should be laughed at.

But to attack me, when you are confirmed wrong (now) is disgraceful.

Facts and reason, there is no other alternative or 'side'.

I'll never say that someone is going to hell because I don't know for sure how God sees things just like everyone else I can speculate. I think a while back you or someone else posted that God hates gays or something in that line of view, but honestly I can't see how God would punish someone for loving another person guy or girl.

Or you said a little girl living good life I don't believe He'll send her to hell there are many factors that have to be taken into account and I understand it is important for you to get your beliefs and what you think is right through to others I'm just doing the same.

Please prove to me why god should exist in a belief system, or anyone's mind?
Would it be for good morals as taught in the bible? Oh seriously I laughed whilst writing that.

I made sure to put "arrogant cunt" in quotation marks to really stress the fact that I didn't say it, and that I was picking it right out of the reply to your post.

I do not truly "despise" all religious people as you claim to, nor do I think they should be laughed at. The true reason I believe god exists in peoples belief system is either ignorance or dishonesty. I believe I can aid the theist who is unknowingly ignorant into seeing things a bit more rationally, which will benefit society as a whole. I think that being overly militant and aggressive only furthers this group away from thinking rationally, and that it tends to make people not want to become atheists due to the stereotypical baggage attached. I also see no ground to be gained by name calling and ad-hominem.

I full heatedly share a lack of respect for those who lie to themselves and others in order to promote their particular faith.

I've been on a lot of atheist forums, and what you stated as the best approach is continually repeated by all there. So guess what? I'm aware of that too.

Even so. would you say that if (hypothetically of course) religion did NOT exist in our world, would there be 1. Lives SAVED and 2. The world would be a much better place to live in ?
Because if you answer YES to either (or in my view BOTH) of those, then not only am I doing the right thing by shunning these fools out of society in their pathetic beliefs, through ridicule and ideally shaming them publicly! BUT I am doing this for the best of intentions.

If we publicize what these fools (bare with me on my exact definition of religious nut jobs) actually believe in and how they have zero reason and facts to back their unfounded claims. Then there is the BETTER chance (in my view) that children may see this and avoid religion, and ideally we can then continue (through funds that the church leaders spend on cars etc!) space exploration and microscopic cell biology and actually advance our society beyond the limits and walls of religion.

Yes law and public sectors have pushed religion out Thankfully!
But we also now need to address the general public.
Just as in drink driving commercials on TV. If you're religious then you're a bloody idiot! I can't wait to see the ads.

Your way (the normal way) is NOT working quick enough. People are still dieing, and children are still being abused. Sorry, I can't wait for these people to see common sense, they need to be TOLD what is right, as if they are ignorant children, which they are.

              Anyway, that's why :)
Maybe just allow it as a spinoff to stupid religious leaders out there. I prefer to tell them the truth, straight away.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure if I continue this debate I'll get banned, so just wanted to tell you that and then move on.
