Is it normal that i despise typical teen-fiction on wattpad?

Just like those vampire and werewolf stories, it's getting under my skin. I'd like to know if there are people who are getting sick of the whole Bad Boy/ Player and the Nerd/Outcast storyline.

Some cosmic force puts our heroine, the 'good girl'/'nerd' in a situation with the male lead a.k.a 'player'/ 'bad boy'.
If you check out wattpad, i'm sure you'd find tons.
I know wattpad isn't the best place to find good stories, but there is quite a number of hidden gems there.

The overuse of pretty-all-along trope, where the girl becomes instantaneously hot when she applies makeup because, hell she wasn't your typical girl in the story who cakes her face. She of all people can get the hottest guy in school.

I know it's marketing when you put a pretty girl on the cover to attract readers but the way the author puts it, the girl is a major 'nerd' and all, the cover picture/ cast member you picked negates that.

Don't get me started on the 1D fanfiction.
I mean, it's great to know people are writing and reading but i can't help but dislike how similar and ridiculous the stories are.

Really, i don't know why I bother browsing the titles (they're all dead give-aways to the plot) Oh wait, this goes the same with most shoujo manga anyway. Why am i bothering to complain here? Just wanna know the percentage of people who voted have this pet peeve or not.

    Bella woke up and saw that the other one, what's he called? Wayne? Or something. Well, he was there and his teeth were all shiny so he'd been out doing some vamping. She sighed. Then he sighed. Then they both sighed. Why is life so hard? Then Wayne got up and went out and Bella got up and went out. Then they were outside. They did a bit more sighing. Then he kissed her on the throat. Then she sighed.

    Pizza for lunch at Mofos, he announced in a mock tudor accent.

    Any "sides?", asked the waitress and sighed. No side, she sighed.

    Then Wayne pissed off on his motorbike and got on everyone's nerves for a bit.

    I sighed. And I'm the one writing this.

    Just bugger off, Wayne! I'm sick of the bloody sight of you now.

        Never. My work bears no similarity to the work you shall find there. My work is:

        * poorly researched (I honestly can't put my finger on Wayne's real name... I'm thinking Barry now)

        * possessed of self-awareness and tricksy devices such as the "fourth wall"

        * insincere

        The work you will find on the website is the exact opposite in that it is extremely well-researched tripe with sincerity bleeding from every gaping wound of a paragraph. Also, none of it contains a pizza joint called Mofos. I threw that in for whimsy.

    there are some genuinely good fanfics out there (not every one is about sex or over the top gore), you just have to sort out the gems from the garbage

    I think unless you're a slightly strange teenage girl fan-fiction will have little appeal to you, however in my wade though the swamp of poorly written drivel I have found some gems, for example:

    Squick (in which Lucius Malfoy kills then violates Draco with a hand drill),

    the infamously bad My Immortal (a gothic ( or "goffic") Harry Potter with poorly written sexual innuendoes in each of the 43 chapters),

    The Pokemon Story ( a pornographic tale of a boy and his pokemon, expect blood, incest and never being able to look at Nurse Joy in the same way again),

    Double Or Nothing (where the Weasley twins share a heated night of passion with Lance Bass),

    and finally, Jesus and Hitler: A Romance (probably the most offensive Fanfic ever written, I almost cried with laughter)

          Yeah that kind of what fanfiction does to you. Its an addiction. I never read any of the awful shit you mentioned though. I am pretty sure Pokemon porn would put you on the Pedo watch list.

            There aren't actually any children in The Pokemon Story (thank god!), but way the writer chose to set such a gruesome horror-porn story in the cutesy world of Pokemon is enough to make it sufficiently traumatising.

        Regarded as one of the more controversial fanfics, it's been banned from the site multiple times due to it's mockery of religion and inclusion of incestuous sex with a minor.

        It's messed up but I'm sure I can find a link to it if you like.
