Is it normal that i didn't quit my job, instead i just stopped going?

Ive always looked at like this:
Be as dedicated to your job, as they are to you.
If a company treats you well, but for some reason you are leaving.
Give them a notice, and be a good employee till your last day.
IF a company treats you poorly and randomly fires people.
you owe them nothing.
Find a better job, and quit.
No notice.
They wouldnt give you 2 weeks notice before they fire you.
So screw them.

No big deal. Just forget them. It's not like you can use them for a reference. Lots of jobs out there now. Good luck.

you absolutely did the correct thing for the correct reasons. and as a student you are not even obliged to list them as employment history. not only that you should post a brief description of your employment difficulties where other students have access to your issues. Thus sparing them . I came out of retirement to save a department add had a similar experience . I walked off the job. a job i loved , a job i would have done for free because it was important to people's lives. but no. they cant have somebody happier than they are. some people live off misery without it they die.

It's not the right thing to do, but, happens everyday, and we all at least think about it. I had a job years ago that I liked (or at least, didn't mind), but, the branch manager changed from a guy we all liked and respected, to a bitch woman on a daily power trip, notably with me. I took her shit for about a month, then, when denied taking some comp time I was due (60 hours racked up, I only wanted a half day), had enough.

When I went to lunch, I considered..Fukit, I'm just not going back. Instead, I wrote up a resignation letter, returned after lunch, handed it to her, then walked out for good. At least I didn't just..not return.

If you just stop going to work without telling anyone anything, the management will just cut you off their staff and call it quitting. If you decide one day to start not showing up to work without saying anything, don't expect to still have a job two or three days later.

See your not screwing over the company you are screwing over all the people who work for that company. One of my old coworkers did that. He needed tine off even last minute or something I always had him covered. Wana how I was rewarded for that? Lost 2 full weeks worth of plans with my boyfriend cause he pulled that shit. Always leave notice your only screwing over the good guys by not doing it

I think a lot of people have done this at some point.
