I’m female, it was external, I didn’t pop the hymen at that age.

It's pretty common for some kids, even at that age, to touch themselves "down there" like that - I don't think it's "masturbation" exactly, at least not the way someone older would think about it.. They have just figured out that it can feel good so they do it 🙂
One of my nieces did it constantly when she was around the same age, and according to her mom (my sister) I was the same when I was a kid
