People Generally only believe in God because that is what they have been taught their whole lives. Brainwashed by schools, relatives, friends, churches etc. Most are taught to be fearful of God and frightened to be free thinkers.
I have nothing against people of believe in God, everyone is entitled to their beliefs but you have to question whether they are their beliefs or beliefs that have been bestowed upon them from years of teaching. A baby is not born a particular religion, they are told what to believe from a young age etc and grow up with that.

Nothing bad happened to me, and don't tell me that's why I don't believe in god. I'm not non-religious because I'm a fucking victim. This is exactly what I hate about you religious folk. You go around saying "Oh you don't believe in god? Oh well, I've met him so I do" as if God is fucking selective of who he talks to. You're not special. You're flesh and bone. You don't need god. You don't make a commandment saying "Thou shalt not kill" And then proceed to flood the entire fucking planet. The bible says satan killed 4 people, while god killed hundreds of thousands. You aren't a superior race just because you believe in a man in the clouds. The Christan religion was established because they couldn't find answers anywhere else, so they made them up. Jesus was a black jew if he ever existed, and you've been fed lies your entire life. Whenever depicted in stained glass, and paintings jesus and the saints are all tall white men, and when you see him on the cross in scupltures he always has the same god damn expression on his face as if anybody actually knows what he looked like when he was dying. I have two roman priests for uncles, and I tell them this whenever they can. If they just looked past the fact I didn't believe in god, I wouldn't say anything, but religious people are constantly saying things to you if you're athiest that puts you below them.

When things don't go according to plan, thats when people stop believing in God. But, it's your choice, i even sometimes doults him. Most of my family are like God fearing people so they truely believe in him.

Look man I know how you feel I was raised catholic and now I cannot and will not believe in a all powerful being in the sky who floods the planet at will and has family nd friends die just to test ONE persons faith. Either he does not exist or is a massmurdering f### head

Well not your eternity is your own decision. Personally I think science only confirms the existence of a god.

Oh, and the reason you usually see Jesus depicted as a white man in western cultures is because Jesus is usually depicted as what the majority of people will most closely relate to in that area. :)

Everyone goes through periods of losing their faith. But God and science can fit together. The Big Bang was God creating the universe. Time is relative (for an explanation of time, read "The Elegant Universe." It's about string theory but the first chapter is all about special relativity). So, the Earth was not created in seven Earth-days, but seven- well, seven-God days. I was raised on practically no faith but my life is so much better since I converted. Also, I like how I can view things from an agnostic's or atheist's point of view. So, I know it seems absurd that God exists in a universe governed by so many laws that it seems to just run itself, but think: who made those laws in the first place? :)

It is if something traumatic happened in your life that made you stop believing in Him. Trust me; i've been down that road.
