Is it normal that i don't like my dog?

I bought a new dog about a week ago and I just realized that I don't like dogs because they stink and I feel disgusted of them, also because my dog eats his poop.
As well as I hate to wake up early to feed and walk him.
Is it normal?

You don't hate your dog you should hate yourself for being a dumbass not doing your homework before buying an animal.

Do your dog a favour and move yourself out of its new home. Fuckin noob

It disturbs me to think of the level of neglect it would take to make a dog stink in less than a week...

I've never had to bathe a dog weekly. A dog stinking in less than a week leads me to question the quality of their surroundings.

Me too, my dog has a proper bath only a couple of times a year. mainly in the winter when her coat gets wet too often.

In summer she swims in the river most days and I worked out 4 years after rescuing her that I can lather her up with non-chemical soap after her first swim and subsequent swims will rinse her off.

So you just now realized that you're a stupid jerk and it only took you a week to figure it. Good job asshole! I feel sorry for your poor dog. Ever heard of a book? You should pick up a book on puppy/dog care and behavior, read it and learn something. Stop being ignorant and neglectful of your poor pet.

Someone that stupid probably can't even read anyway. I too feel sorry for the dog, any dogs deserve better than that

Yep, but worth it I reckon. I was always a cat person bc I loved their independence, but I won't have one now living in the country in a rental and not being able to afford to build a cat run - I don't love their efficiency as killers of wildlife.

I was never a dog person until I found my present dog at a shelter just after I was raped: she was a mess from cruel treatment and so was I, so we healed each other. I figure if I'm not going to risk trying to be number one in another human's life, it's pretty good to be number one in her eyes!

Animals are so awesome! I'm glad to hear that you and your dog help each other heal.

Right now it's just me and my Siamese cat, Andrew, but I think we'd both like some canine companionship to add to our lives. Andrew hasn't really seen or met with other kitties since he was about 9 weeks old. He did meet with a friend of mine's 2 kittens that she brought over once so I could teach her how to clip their nails and bathe them. He was about a year old when they visited, and unfortunately they were afraid of him. Most of Andrew's furry encounters have been with dogs and my sister's toy poodle, Dewey Ray, is probably his best animal friend.

When I was married to my first ex husband we had a dog, a cat and 2 rats. It was a good life and I wanted to have kids til he cheated with this awful woman from his work. Sadly, I lost my Shetland sheepdog and 2 rats to him in the divorce, and had to give up my Himalayan kitten after I moved back with family.

Everyday I'm grateful to have Andrew.
            ;-)

Ok first of all, you said you bought the dog. You didn't go to the pound where all the good dogs are, it sounds like you went out and bought a name brand dog like some dipshit buying a Versace handbag. Those dogs are usually bad dogs and have behavioral problems due to being over bred. So he may very well be a bad dog.

Second of all, I think it's an endearing quality when the dog eats poop. We had this basset hound/blue healer mix that would eat his poop out in the yard. As kids we would chase him around and pretend like we were going to take his poop from him. He was very protective of that poop. We loved him and had a great time. So you should just pull your head out of your ass and wake up.

I don't like my sister and she is close to looking and acting like a dog, but I still love dogs:)
But anyways if you want him give him to a shelter were a family who actually wants a dog would take him and give him the love he needs.

You don't deserve to have a dog, who are nearly always bundles of unconditional love on four legs, which you clearly don't deserve.

Take it back to where you got it or pass it on to a non-kill shelter so it can be found a good home with someone who will know how to treat it well - it's not rocket science

Yes. It is normal to hate your dog if you are not used to the responsibility that comes with owning one. I would suggest washing your dog more often if he stinks, and punishing him for eating his poop.

Great idea...encourage someone who is clearly incompetent and at fault for an animal's neglect to punish them. Cos this person is clearly mature and responsible enough to know how to discipline a dog...

I think you misunderstand what I wrote. I was trying to answer their question without insulting them. What I mean by punish is to say "no" or to scold the dog when it eats its poop.

The only one benefiting from the dogs shit eating is the owner. The dog is probably pinned up in the kitchen eating it's own feces or cleaning the owners mess because the dog doesn't want to live in its own filth. The owner an abysmally lazy slob scum bag I've seen it before.

I understand that. I also understand that anyone this incompetent will NOT understand that punishment isn't beating the dog or something awful.

The whole post is probably written by a troll, but on the off chance it isn't...
