Is it normal that i don't like smoking?

Is it normal that i don't like smoking, but do it anyway? When i first started, i kinda liked it. But now, i hate it, the taste, the smoke, the inhale, almost everything. I still smoke regularly, and i don't want to stop.

IIN?

I smoked for nearly fifty years and I never liked it, stopped countless times but always started again and now I'm dying slowly of emphysema. Have fun with your addiction, it's a hard one to kick but it is possible and sooner is better than later

Yep but still possible to kick the habit. I just left it too late and will pay the price for the rest of my shortened life. How are you doing with it?

Not had a puff since 1-1-16, thanks for asking.
But it's absolutely the toughest thing I've ever done, again. Put me back in the jungle with VC everywhere and it would be easier to face than a day w/o tobacco.

              Thanks. Nope, cold jerky. lol.
I can't get any of those things down here anyway. I really think this time will be the one. My wife and I are so fucking shitty to each other while quitting that I don't want to go through that ever again. How's that for motivation?

I actually like smoking, but I quit about five years ago, because it's a waste of money. Also I became much more afraid of cancer when my opthamologist discovered skin damage in my left eye. He recommended that I always wear a hat and sunglasses as well as sunscreen and that I not smoke. The potential loss of an eye to skin can4cer made quitting very easy for me. Additionally, I don't think I have an especially addictive personality with regard to chemicals.

My addictions and dysfunctions tend to be more along the lines of madness... Yes, I am quite mad indeed!

I understand...well only in my limited way. I smoked for five years straight, from 1 a day to maybe 5 a day...then all of a sudden years went by and I smoked a 30 pack in a day or just over. I quit for six months because I started to have health anxiety over it. My anxiety and panic attacks were strong enough to make me quit. Every time I lit up and puffed away I would enter a serious panic. However I took the habit back up again for a few more months, not sure how long. Been quitting again now for the last month or more, however I cave here and there and have a single drag here and there. I hate smoking it's disgusting, you can feel how bad it is. Yet at the same time, I love it. I hope I continue to quit [properly] for the rest of my life.

Fact: Every year more Americans die from the effects of second-hand smoke than from guns.

You don't cure an addiction with the substance you're addicted to, nix the gum, patches, vaping, or any form of nicotine.

Well I did: ended a more than 50 year addiction with nicotine gum for about a year, then gave that up. It's a bit early to tell with vaping/e-fags but stats so far seem to indicate that the majority of people using them to "give up smoking" end up smoking nicotine cigarettes - the same used to apply to herbal cigarettes back in the 80's.

Even still nicotine by itself is awful for people. Best to quit cold turkey if they can.

Of course it is, but if replacement nicotine helps someone eventually stop smoking I'm in favour of it: at least using that you're not adversely affecting your lungs and not inflicting cigarette smoke on others

its all a replacement i git it

its all far better for yalls bodyn smokin butts

and even if yall aint fixin the physical dependence on nicotine yallre breakin the habita lightin up & smokin which is a pretty big parta quittin smokin

its easier to quit stickin patches on yalls arm later
