Is it normal that i don't like to enlighten myself about things?

The more I've bothered to learn about things (such as evolutionary theory, history, religion, economics, etc.) the more I've realized that my blood pressure will rise when I'm around people who spout off about these things without ever having even studied the basics of them. There are plenty of things I'd like to know, but I'm afraid of the stress that being around ignorant people will cause me.

They do say ignorance is bliss but it is pretty disappointing that you will allow other ignorant people to keep you down. I think it's more of an issue of you controlling your emotions when around these people.

You will stop feeling bad for the people who know less that you when you really realize how much more you still have to learn.
Just try to imagine how little you knew of life and people, how little you knew even yourself 10 years ago, compared to what you know and you understand today.

Is it normal that your post makes me sad?

I don't like "enlightening" myself either, not because of other people's opinions but because I find it difficult to grasp complex topics. Truthfully I feel like I haven't matured much further than 12, either intellectually or emotionally.

Will that stop you from learning? If it does, that's kind of lame. Sorry.

Kind of lame with a hint or arrogant. Right?
