Is it normal that i don't plan on living beyond 59?

I know that you can be healthy and sharp in old age but I don't want to risk it. If humans were meant to live 60+ years, aging wouldn't effect us so bad and we'd all easily live to our 100s or beyond (If we all went back to only living to our 40s and 50s I'd be thrilled even though everyone else would hate it). I don't plan on getting married or having kids anyway so I won't have anything holding me back. As for me dying, I was thinking somwhere between 55 and 59. No, I won't change my mind and I'd be better off doing it anyway rather then letting myself grow old and letting my body fall apart to senior-related health issues.

    What are you, like 12?
Sounds like your life plan will leave you with nothing to live for by the time you're 55 anyway, so good plan.

You are not alone. Many people think the same. When they don't die at 59 they start playing golf instead.

I don't know if this is normal, but I don't think it's freaky or unhealthy as long as you get your affairs in order before you off yourself (so whatever friends and family you have by then aren't totally screwed).
I am under strict instructions from my grandparents to mercy kill them if their minds deteriorate to a certain point, such as not being able to recognize their kids, etc.
On the other hand, the human body and brain can both hold up pretty damn well if you take good care of them, so I think sixty is a little young for you to call it quits.
I'm thinking about my own death on a wait-and-see basis. I figure I'll be healthy until I'm around eighty, because my maternal grandmother is that age and she's in incredible physical and mental shape - better than a lot of forty-year-olds. If I start to decline around then, I'll probably get my legal stuff together and check out early, too, but I haven't set a definite age for it because you never know what shape you'll at a certain age.

59 isn't young though because to me, it's ancient and long enough. I just don't see myself living beyond that. Heck, if I'm in the mood, I may not even live beyond 49. I'm not too fond of my life and it doesn't seem that interesting to me (It could actually be alot better). In fact, I'd much rather be on another Earth-esque planet then here. I'm not saying my life is bad or anything it's just that I think life here on Earth is a bit too over-hyped. You get what I'm saying, right? Of course, since I'll only be turning 21 this year, I have 38 more years before I can end my life. It's likely my mother will be dead at that point or sooner and the only one I'll have to worry about is my brother. But he'll probably be fine.

Yeah, I felt a little down just a little while ago but I'm alright now. I do get sad but not that often. I don't think I'm depressed but it might be so ingrained into my psyche that it goes unoticed and I'm oblivious to it. I'm probably just having your normal, down-under-the-clouds moments.

If you're truly bored with life and do not fear death, you might as well start making it interesting. Why dont you just walk outside and start a fight with somebody. Or go base jumping. Or join an MC or shoot some heroin steal a motorcycle pick up a hooker and bone her on the back of your new bike in the midnight air at the top of the hills that overlook the north side of town.

I mean, if you're truly jaded in this life, what's stopping you?

          • You should not feel down-under-the-clouds. I am sure there are things that you can think of that make you enjoy living.
