Is it normal that i don't really use any "social" technology?

Before I go into story mode, I want to point out that by "social" technology, I'm talking about technology that is centered around people and communicating with them.

'Kay, so I have a cell phone, but I hardly use it. I mostly just keep it at hope. I'm not sure if I even know how to text 'cause I haven't tried it yet. The only times I really use my phone are when I'm somewhere where a landline is not available to me. Actually, I rarely use landline phones, too.

I do not have a facebook. I once tried to get one, but I honestly do not understand the likeability of it. The same goes for twitter, myspace, etc.

I even have to be constantly reminded to check my e-mail, 'cause I almost never send out any e-mails to other people.

In regards to this site, it's probably one of the only places that I actually use somewhat frequently, and even when on here, I don't comment as much, don't use the member chat, and am not really well known.

I was born in the '90s, so I'm kinda apart of the new age of technology, but I hardly use the social aspects of it. I prefer face-to-face communications.

So, is it normal that I hardly use technology to talk to people?

It bothers me that this site has become known as social media. I know, technically, it always has been but there's a slow shift towards it becoming a chat room or a dating site. Admittedly, it can be those things to (and is), but it detracts from the focus.

With regards to your question, though, why do you think IIN is your only online social outlet? What is it about here?

    • Well, I guess I wouldn't go with "social outlet"...

      It's more like comedic relief.

      • Then why did you reply to Dappled in a manner that had no comedy involved?

I am pretty sure I know who you are, and I still think you are not the person you try so hard to make yourself out to be.

        Ne'er-do-well. Am I right?

        • No. And I'm not the comedian, it's other people who are.

          • If not, prove it. If you are here for no reason other than comedy, then you would have no reason to not show your username, the comedy still continues with or without your anonymous status.

I guess I'll have to spell this out.
If you were here for comedy relief only, then you wouldn't of replied to Dappled in the way you did, because you replied in a manner that was not funny, to a comment you yourself did not find funny due to how you reacted. You felt like you needed to "explain", and if you see everybody as a comedic joke, then you would be the first to ever think they have to explain themselves to something they find a joke.

            ...Need I say more?

Okay. I'm here 'sometimes' for comedic relief. And I never said I see 'everything' as a comedic joke.

    It's normal.

I myself could not pull that off. I moved around quite a bit and in regards to my job, school, etc. the use of communication and social media is an essential way to stay in touch.
