Is it normal that i don't want people to read my storites?

I am a young writer, and I'm not looking to make it into a profession, just a hobby. Still, I don't like it when other people read my books when I don't specifically tell them that they can. Is this normal? Or am I just being an annoying teenager?

Normal, I guess. Even the great Kafka wanted his stories to be destroyed, though they ended up being published posthumously.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I do the same. However, I do try to get the stories out there. I feel that when I don't want someone else to read it it is because there is something I later find has not been "polished" or I am embarrassed to reveal that I thought about this idea. My recommendation is to figure out which of these it is. Then you should refine the unpolished stories and find somewhere to put them where people can see them I would recommend Wattpad.com . Keep the embarrassing ones and put them in a box somewhere to visit a few months later. Then, bring them out reread, refine and release. Let those thoughts go.

I'm the same way. I guess it's probably just me being self-conscious, but I don't want anyone to read my stories without my permission either
