Is it normal that i eat salt straight out of the salt shaker?

I’m kind of addicted to eating salt by itself. Like I will literally pour salt on to my hand and lick it off. I used to do this all the time when I was a kid, then when I got a bit older I realized how disgusting it was and stopped. But a few weeks ago, I was in McDonald’s with one of my friends and (as a joke) they poured a whole packet of salt onto one chip and ate it. Then they dared me to do the same and I did, but it tasted really good. I almost always use salt in restaurants but they still don’t always taste salty enough, but this extremely salty chip tasted amazing to me. Then, after that I started doing it again, shaking salt into my hand and eating it by itself. I will sometimes do this two or three times. It doesn’t really bother me and it’s not exactly a serious addiction but I know that if I carry on doing it it will probably cause serious health problems. I just want to know if anyone else does this, and if anyone knows the reason behind it.

From skimming Google about the subject ingesting too much salt affects your blood pressure. I think you better stop before you blow a blood vessel in your brain or heart.

I once ate Mcdonald's sauce right out of the packet. I ate that for lunch.

I'd recommend stopping before you end up in the hospital with a stroke or even a heart attack.

Hydration isn't the only problem, that much salt can send your blood pressure through the roof.
