Is it normal that i fear my brother?

i'm still in school, so i see him a lot. he believes he's 100% perfect, and if i remotely suggest otherwise, he threatens to beat me with the nearest item that can do damage (previous examples include a lamp, chair, and hammer)

Well, one thing is for sure, anyone who is triggered to threaten violence at the mere suggestion the they're not perfect is clearly a quite imperfect person indeed. Also nobody is perfect, and anybody who thinks they're perfect needs to have their head examined!

If your brother attacks you, or your parents then the police need to be contacted, and criminal charges need to be pressed for domestic violence.

You're brother is clearly a piece shit, so say I!

Have his ass arrested. Thats domestic violence right there. He will probably not learn anyway but at lesst he may get taken to juvie and give you a break.

It sounds like your brother has some serious psychological issues. Threatening violence in response to the most trivial slight is not normal at all. If you or your parents have been physically injured by him, and they have chosen to not take action in response to that, then they're creating the conditions for even bigger problems in the future.

He's a douchebag. What do your parents have to say about this behaviour?

They also see this behavior. They try give him reality checks, but all they get is the same behavior he gives me.

He's a delinquent. I don't know what your parents are waiting for, for him to end up stabbing someone? I don't know the full story here, but if he is violent, the police should be informed and a social worker involved. It seems he has psychological issues and may even need to visit a psychiatrist for rehabilitation.

Hang on... Your delinquent brother attacks your parents with household objects?! And they tolerate this?!
It's just bad discipline. Possibly some psychological issues too, but your parents gotta do something to fix the problem.

Also stand up for yourself. Don't let your brother walk all over you. If that was my brother, psychological problems, or not... I'd beat the shit out of him so he learned to fear me.

This is what happens when kids aren't given enough physical discipline. Your parents need to give him beating therapy.

Yeah, right, validate his belief that it's ok to use physical violence against other people, that's a good idea ......... NOT

    No easy answers.
People like that choose who they pull this crap with.
Guaranteed he doesn't say it to a tough guy, or cop.
    He does it to you.
To feel tough, feel like a man.
Guess is he's a closet homo.
You can ignore, report, kick his ass, or ???
    There's really no easy answer.
The issue is with himself not you.
    I've seen it before.
    Currently he's a mid 20s unemployed alcoholic.
That still blames everyone else for his problems.

Go to the police for this shit.

  • I'd just ignore him, emotionally cut him off, and make him dead to me. He's not really worth your trouble.

    Steps -

    1. Call him out on it in public
    2. Let him beat you
    3. Call the police

    Good luck and be safe.

I have. They try to help, but get the same behavior. My mom even sustained a head injury from him.
