the title might have sounded too harsh, but seriously I find church uneeded. I hate going to church, I believe in Jesus 100%. I respect Jesus alot, I just hate and despise going to church.
I feel I have a better understanding of God when church is not involved.
It IS a waste of time. You go there just to hear some guy rant about how your gonna go to "Hell" if you don't do x, or if you continue to do y, then you give them money for it?
Pffff, please, besides nigga your ALIVE how the fuck are you gonna tell ME what happens to ME when I die.... while your still here.

Church = cult. Wake up people.
If you look at how much church has changed over the centuries and how many divisions and subdivisions of every religion exists, it's safe to safe that today's churches are nothing more than a product of who has been in power at various points in history. Also, look at how many different versions of the Bible exist. The are all revisions and translations with the original messages barely left intact. It's another sign pointing to how power has corrupted organized religion. I'm not saying that your religion is a bad thing, but as an atheist, I can say this objectively: The churches lost their way long ago. You don't need them to follow a belief. I don't need a school to study science. All you need is a book and effort.
You can still worship God and not go to church. That's what most people I know do. It won't make you any less of a (insert religion here because I have no idea which religion you are. Lol).
It's a step in the right direction. However, Jesus is a waste of time as well. Why believe that a dead hippie who died on a cross centuries ago would save you from the sin of a woman who allegedly ate an apple because a snake told her so? It's ludicrous.
It isn't a waste of time :) It is good for you. You just have to discipline yourself to see the benefits of it.
I always thought of church like one big club of people who worship god. Not one I was ever really a part of but I was raised christian too. (Please no hate for that you anti Christian bastards that I know are going to read). I think it helps some people. They can feel like they belong and everyone likes to feel like they belong to something, are part of something, are welcomed somewhere are part of something. Where people know your name and every-time you come by they say "Hey buddy". Its just to worship god and help people. I kind of wish I could be part of something like that but I feel awkward around church people.
You don't need a church to worship God. I'm not Christian and I know this. I have known this for a long time. I respect Christians but I'm pagan.
I don't really like going to church, but my dad makes me go. I think it's boring and I know alot of people who don't go to church. I think it's normal to not like going to church, and you can still believe in God and Jesus even if you don't go to church.
I swear to God, it's starting to become a cliche on this site to post anti-religious comments whenever there's a religious post...
Do you think maybe you could expand on why you hate going to church? Do you not like the church you attend? Have you thought about going to a different church?
Yeah. Whether or not you believe in a god, I think we can be pretty certain that what is taught now is NOT what the hypothetical god/jesus intended.
I stopped going to church after I came home with bugs on me. I washed my clothes and thought it was the end of it. I wake up covered in itchy welts. I didn't even have pets and I had fleas. One of the pigs at church had 12 dogs. So, don't go to church. You may get lice, mites, or fleas from the other idiots there.

You know you don't have to go to church, most don't!
Plus if you get to about 80 years old you can all of a sudden take 'jesus' into your heart (this sounds funny to me, but I understand you believe this crazy stuff) and then you will be fully accepted again.
Therefore don't go, wait until you're 80 or something.
Lucky you don't believe in Allah though, because not praising him you have to be killed!! ie That's you and me! Oh well their god must be fiction too ;)
