Is it normal that i find the emergency alert system beep scary?:c

Quite frequently, I hear the very loud and shrilly sound of the "Emergency Alert System" test beep when watching tv.

I watch late night tv often and it seems to happen alot during that time period. Does it bother any one else? It's really loud...

Yes normal. There's a story somewhere on the Internet where very recently some people hacked the system and had the voice announce a zombie attack. IIRC it went like 'there has been reports of the dead coming back to life. Please avoid cemetaries and funeral homes until further notice'. Look it up its pretty funny.

Once a month our Tsunami sirens go off and I'll tell you, never venture out along the coast at night. It freaked me out and I forgotten they were testing them. I ran for dear life as I was trying to climb up a steep hill towards higher ground in the dark. A couple of times I almost slid back down onto some jagged rocks below.

I think they pretty much design that sound to be shrill and awful and a little terrifying. I grew up in the '80s during the end of the Cold War, and every time I heard that shit, I thought of nuclear Armageddon. I still twitch a little when I hear it.

So yeah, totally normal, I'd say.
