Is it normal that i get depressed when i see an animal in pain?

Well I'm very sensitive about animals and their rights as living beings but no one I know feels it so deep as I do.
When I see an animal in pain or distress I get a huge pit in my stomach, my head starts spinning and I sometimes throw up. I don't know why but they are the only thing I have ever since my parents took away my dog. I really need your help please write back and vote.

  • Yeah it's never fun seeing an animal in pain.

It's a shame though we extend compassion to things that look cute and fuzzy but won't towards snakes, spiders, and lobsters that have life as well.

  • For sure!
I don't cry during sappy movies, but I'll start bawling my eyes out if I see animal abuse. I can't help but think about my own pets being in a situation like that... Then the tears come.

I have a very long fuse and animal abuse is about the only thing which bypasses that fuse. Coming home from work, I saw a 14-year old boy hanging his puppy by its leash and enjoying watching it choke and struggle. I'm ashamed to say that I came close to laying him out flat. Not normal behaviour for me at all, but animal abuse provokes me to the point of violence.

    • I would have decked him one for that, regardless of his age! :O

It scares me how many youngsters and young adults (even though old adults do too) seem to think it's funny to hurt an animal. At least there are some decent people around though! :D

I understand cause I feel the same way. Hurt people do not effect me at all . Animals are a different story . It rips my heart out to see them in pain. Your are not wrong for feeling this.

Yep same here, I can watch the goriest and most terrible treatment of humans and not really be bothered (well I do but not to the extent of animals) but I flip out over animals. One time I walked through my livingroom, and the television was on, my mom was watching a movie previously and a different movie came on... and of course the time I choose to walk in, is when it's a scene of a terribly injured dog... I almost cried and puked at the same time. >:(

It's very hard for me watch the commercials that the ASPCA puts out. The sad music, the terrified eyes, the broken and beaten bodies of our wonderful, beautiful animals. I have to turn the channel. I become a mess.

So do I. I just want to take all the animals in shelters home!

  • That is why I use 12GA slugs and aim for the heart. They die quickly; not much pain to speak of.

I know I saw one of my friends ripping off the legs off an ant. I got so pissed! I bashed him. I set his mind back on track while we were arguing whether it was "just an ant" or a living being as equal as a human.
