Is it normal that i get feel influenced by overboard christians

I have wanted to ask this, but I have only turned 18 recently. Let me start out to say I do believe in A god, but I seriously need to ask this.

I went to sites like Yahoo! Answers' Religion & Spirituality (home of the most extreme people on the Earth) just to troll and I feel like I'm turning into an overboard Christian. I have been hearing many overboard ideologies on the internet, including the satanic panic, demon paranoia, how stuff like Pokemon, Spongebob, YuGiOh and Hello Kitty are evil, etc. I feel like I'm starting to become uncomfortable around non-Christian religions because of those people.

I strongly believe that it is all bullshit, and I am a Deist, but after spending too much time around those people I feel like I am turning into them. I feel like if I do not conform to their standards I will get possessed by an unclean spirit. I haven't touched my Pokemon games in a while because I feel scared. Is it normal? How can I stop this?

"Sin lies in only hurting others unnecessarily. All other "sins" are invented nonsense." - Robert A Heinlein

My favorite quote and it helps me keep things in perspective when I encounter religious nutjobs. Or even just the really zealous. Or even just religion in general.

I've been raised in a home where my dad went from womanizer and druggie to getting involved in church, then ministries, and I've watched his whole life change. He was named business man of the year this year for our region. I know in my life I have watched God work. I know he is real. However I teeter between two extremes. When I try to right I go overboard like you're saying and it kills it for me and I got to the other side. Eventually ill develop my balance I think with the help of a mentor with a history like mine. Too many times I see what kills the developing relationship with God will be the ones in your own religion because of their obsession with rituals. I believe its all one God worshipped different ways. I feel for me I read my bible on my own. Ask him to reveal what he wants for YOU to receive and apply. There will always be men out there with their hypothesises, theories, even if its true. In life you learn to crawl before you walk for a reason. One thing that is always said is develop your relationship with your God first. Then as you grow more will be revealed in due time. Try some other resources. I once had a patient who died alone in his sisters room after being holed in her house when he couldn't take care of himself. He had read so much biologies and documentaries on the goverment, how they run, past presidents, conspiracies no one knows about. He trusted no one and alienated himself. Unfortunately not knowing can hurt you but other times if you're not the right person to be able to handle some info its best to wait. Try again later or figure you're better without it.

its perfectly normal to feel that way. usually the really extreme people are the ones thought to be wrong but some people notice there ingenuity and lack of conversion and that gives others inspiration..... but just remember(I'm atheist by the way) in the holy bible it says that the best you can do is still dirty rags in the sight of god, so being totally extreme and TO religous is a waste of time really.
