Is it normal that i hardly leave my bedroom?

When somebody is watching TV or I hear somebody walking around I can't leave me bedroom. The only time I feel safe to leave my bedroom is when I'm home alone or when everyone is sleeping. I have been this way since elementary school and I'm currently in grade 12. Please help.

Do you have any reason to be afraid?

    • Yes, leaving my room reminds me of the past. My older sister used to beat me up and encourage suicide.(when I was 8-12 years old she taught me to hang myself and other suicide techniques)So I finally attempted suicide by taking a bottle of pills, and the doctor thought I just ate too much candy. Hiding in my bedroom was my safe place. Which lead to constantly hiding in my bedroom. It's my everyday life even after my older sister moved out.

And yet you managed to get through grammar school, middle school and high school? How, if you couldn't leave your room?
    Strange, very strange.......

    • I managed to get through school because I was a home schooled and after the lesson I'd go right back to my room. You should learn how to read I wrote in the tittle I HARDLY LEAVE my room

he said he hardly leaves it, he didn't say he never leaves. maybe he goes to school, and then goes right to his bedroom when he gets home

you're so stupid, omg. How did you go to the doctor after taking a bottle of pills, and have him think you just ate too much? YOU'RE STUPID. Seriously, he's a doctor, you're just an attention deprived brat. Don't come online looking for sympathy. GROW UP

It's normal to hardly leave your room, because lots of teenagers are like this, however when you bring up the point of safety, then it's no longer normal. Otherwise, it's a normal existence. You might have family issues to address.

You should see a therapist. There is no way that you can lead a functional life if you keep on going like this.
