Is it normal that i hate being smart?

I'd say i'm relativley clever and a bit different from those around me (what i like/do) but I really hate this. Every time I answer a question, every time I get a good grade or if I get something wrong someone has an opinion on it. Most of the people around me are quite smart (if not smarter than me) I don't understand why they have to piss me off.

I can't help but think if I was more like them I'd be happier, is this normal?

So your quite smart, don't like being smart, the people around you are smarter and you wish you were like them?

You have nothing to worry about.

Don't worry. There are plenty of people out there who are WAY smarter then you.

You're thinking about yourself too much. I'm sure you're clever and all, like most people believe they are.

In fact, most people believe that they are intelligent. Most people believe that they are different, most people believe that they are special and most people believe that they are right. Whether or not they are correct? I can not say. So I don't. But I can say that they are not all correct. In fact, studies have shown that most Americans believe that they are ABOVE AVERAGE intelligence. Statistically, that is not so.

Accept it, and accept that you may not be everything that you think you are. People are going to disagree with you. No matter what stance you take, no matter how right you feel you are or even how humble you are to admit your faults, someone is going to disagree with you. Use your cleverness to understand that it's a foolish trait to get pissed off because you've been one-upped. There are better things in life to pursue than your own misery regarding the perceived short straw that you have drawn.

You actually don't hate being smart. You hate the status, or the opinion that others have for the fact that you are smarter.
And it's normal, it kinds of annoy when someone seems to never get wrong.
You gotta stop worrying so much about other's opinions, and keeping your smartness for those who can handle it.

It was Dostoyevsky that said every intelligent human has some sense of sadness. If you cant empathize that quote than your not too bright

        • Any human could put their inner most thoughts on paper and it would be excellent.

It was not modesty but rather his understanding that a single person can't be all that smart in an uncertain world to begin with.

Maybe the people around you think that you are dumb not smart. If they are smarter they would not be upset you were smart. If they are dumber they would belittle you because you are upstaging them or are too stupid to understand. So I do not understand how your logic makes any sense. When you answer do you get the question wrong? If you did they might be angry because they think you are beneath them not above them. So you seem to be in denial of your own limitations.

This sounds like a new co-worker who left her paystub on the breakroom table. Someone saw it and started gossip around the company about how much more the new person makes. Now she's going around boo hooing, "everyone is talking about me and how much money I make"...I hate making lots of money, it's torture, oh the humanity!! $23 an hour waaaah wah, bitch bitch bitch! She made her way down the line and finally came to me. I won't put up with workplace drama. All I said was "Well,I make more than you, so all have it worse than you'll ever have. I'd stop complaining or go to HR if it bugs you." That shut her up.

There are way smarter people out there, just as there are people who have better jobs than I do.

just keep your mouth shut. then only people that really know you will know you are smart, if you are. doesn't really matter what anybody thinks. then people will peak over your shoulder when tests are handed back and see your good grade, and they'll say "i thought you were a dumbass". best to let people think that. then they won't ask you for anything. also, most smart people kill massive amounts of brain cells from boredom and it levels things out in the long run.

Because if you were smart/wise (intelligent) Then i am 100% confident, you could Solve your own question, and not feel so bad over the fact that you not being treated equally !
Honey' My advise is that, You know how to answer your own question, you don't have to be smart to figure this one out.

Just Smile :)
#YOLO...

I'm happy, my intelligence is average I think, but I fail everything school-wise because I choose to. I am a very happy person, though I used to be depressed.

I don't think intelligence has anything to do with intelligence, but what do I know, right? If you're still in school then be lucky you do your work - it's harder, like me, when you don't.

Still, I'm happier than I've ever been.

Bertrand Russell once said, "The trouble with the world is that...the intelligent are full of doubt." So what you are feeling is normal. Also, it sounds like you are intelligent enough to know when you're wrong and continue seeking the right answers. So don't feel that you have to dumb yourself down or stop answering questions in class. Even when you make a mistake, that can be a learning experience. Don't let your peers take that away from you. They are probably insecure themselves, and they express that insecurity by pointing out someone else's flaws.

Some people are not as smart as the test say. Be proud of your intelligence Don't tell people you smart let them see it. Lots of college graduates are can't balance a check book or tell you how the simpliest things are done.
