I don't know why, but people who are in chats and flirt anonymously get on my nerves. If you are going to do that, then wouldn't it make sense to do it on an online dating site or perhaps meet that person through mutual friends?

I find flirtation odd when it seems built only on the weak assumption that one person is male, one person is female. You see this in chat rooms a lot; if there is a girl there, she is often the object of affection / sexual interest for lots of guys regardless of her personality. Just the fact that she is purportedly a women and thus has a vagina is enough. So that kind of flirtation based on very little comes across as desperation and is a bit sad.
But when two people have come to know each other well despite it only being online and with pseudonyms, that's different. The flirtation has more substance and is based on an attraction between personalities. Sometimes that can lead to romance beyond the confines of the net.

No, It's not normal that you give a crap what someone else is doing when it has nothing to do with you and is hurting no one.
