Is it normal that i hate when people do fake accents?

Okay so since I can remember I've always hated it when people do fake accents, specifically French and Italian ones. I have no idea why but it makes me cringe so hard when someone starts doing like a fake strong accent and I'm supposed to find it amusing but it's so cringey that I just wanna get up and leave the room. Does anyone else get like this or am I just weird?

If Johnny Depp is doing an accent in a movie I will probably watch, and enjoy it, but if it's Dick Van Dyke I will most likely not enjoy it, and try not to watch due to the high cringe factor.

I only do it because I hate my southern accent. & no it's not the 'Howdy "perrdy" lady' wrangling cowboy kind, it's the 'HeRkA GeRkA GoOgA CoOkA cHu You "got'a" "perrdy" mouth "der" "boa"' hillbilly peckerwood kind.

You mean like the VP of the US doing the french accent?

Yep, came across as mocking, not as a compliment or flattering.

I can't stand the fake Australian accent in Outback Steakhouse commercials.

A classic example of accent fail is Dick Van Dyke's (supposedly) cockney accent in Mary Poppins. It definitely set a lot of Londoners' teeth on edge, but I bet most Americans found it perfectly acceptable.

It's actually pretty common for American actors to have serious problems doing British accents according to British ears, while few Americans notice anything off.

What I don't get and find strange, is the weird accent that's become really popular in pop music. I don't think it's even a real accent outside of music, and I can't really explain it (nor can I give good examples unfortunately since I only know of it because of the pop station that is played at work). I've just Googled "weird singing accent", and it seems what I'm talking about is commonly referred to as an "Indie" accent.

That's actually a really good way to put it! It does sound like what cursive would sound like, if it had a sound!

For some reason when I speak I get some people accusing me of faking my accent.

I probably won't hear whether someone's accent is fake or not, but its kinda stupid
