Is it normal that i have a fear of silver wear?

Ever since I was around 5 years old, I have refused to use silverware. I have used plasticware all of my life. If I hear the sound of silverware scraping against teeth, plates, or any other metal object, I cover my ears and start shaking. When I go out to eat, I have to use my own plastic ware. It's hard to go to restaurants because there is so much silverware. Is this normal? I've never met ANYONE else that has this same problem as me. I also can't handle the look of silverware. I hate the way it shines and the metallic taste it has. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can deal with this fear and maybe even grow out of it, please mention it!!!

I've heard of this. Just another symptom of OCD. To me, this is horribly wasteful and you should get over it. I know it isnt thest simple, but personally, I find this mentality disgusting. Plastic is horrible. Plastic is gross. I hate using plastic. Hopefully you use the compostabke kind, or look into getting bamboo. Or. Or. Learn to use chopsticks. They are ways you can be both conscious of your wasteful habits and maintain your malfunction.

I'm guessing your fear of silverware extends to silver jewelry, if you also fear silver wear.
