If this negatively affects your ability to function, then I'd say go ahead and work with a therapist to overcome this phobia. If it doesn't cause you distress, then avoidance is probably your best option.
An irrational fear of an object that poses no significant threat is abnormal. This is common sense.
You could tackle your phobia through therapy. This doesn't need to involve a professional therapist, there are methods you can explore by yourself such as gradual introduction (essentially exposing yourself to the object of your fears, in this case cotton balls, at greater intervals and degrees until you're comfortable with it).
i think they had a women afraid of cotton balls on maury aswell n he brings out a person in a giant cottonball suit lol
Nothing to be ashamed of,
I actually have a phobia of Popsickles,
yeah, I know that's very confusing, but I just can't standing looking at them or even touching them.
Also, you're not the only person with this phobia.

IIN I have a phobia of David Hasslhoffs balls. Could you imagine those things bouncin of your chin, just freaks me out.
There have been guests on Maury with unusual fears, and I think cotton balls was one of them. It's very rare but you're not alone. Just know that even though cotton balls seem creepy to you, they will not hurt you. If that doesn't help, maybe you should see a psychiatrist.
i wouldn't say i have a phobia of them .. but i definately avoid them when i can .. don't like the feel of them , it's weird lol .
Try to ignore it, that always helps if you have a phobia. Stop thinking about or searching about it on the web. Otherwise you can always seek help from a psychiatrist or start a program to get over your phobia. There are plenty of stuff you can find on google and probably youtube too.
