Is it normal that i have a very strong bond with my cat?

My cat (called Polly) is from an adoption center, and we are really close. She won't sleep on anyone else's bed apart from mine, and if I'm away from home for a night, she sits outside my room howling, even if the door's open. Every night she sleeps on my pillow. When me and my family are eating, she sits under my chair and won't move. She follows me around the house and loves it when I pick her up or pet her. Is it normal that she loves me so much?

I always look forward to stories like this because they make me happy. I love it when a human has such a strong bond with an animal and the animal feels it too. There was a girl who posted a couple of months back about all the cute things she does with her hamster and I never forgot that post. Chances are I won't forget yours either. So, yeah, it's normal, sweet, and thank you for making me smile.

missing , she was such a massive part of my life , i'd never been so close to another cat in my time on this earth .. it's like we just understood eachother .. like "soul mates" of a different species .. I LOVE YOU MY LONDON .. No other cat can EVER replace you ! :(

would believe but lets put it this way - everyone , including me that knew her swore she was human in a past life .. it's like she knew every word you said ! Sadly , i think some mongrol killed her at my last place of residence .. Everyday i feel as though i lost my heart & soul the day she went

back home with me .. everytime lol , if i lagged behind .. she would patiently wait for me looking back to see how far away i was & give little meows as if to say "hurry up" until i caught up with her then she'd continue to walk alongside me until we reached our destination , heaps more that noone

My cat was so close to me that whenever i took my dogs for a walk around the block .. She'd invite herself along & proudly walk alongside me the whole way like she was one of the dogs haha .. If i went to a shop , she would walk alongside me & wait in the bushes outside til i came back out then walk

aw, of course it's normal. most pets do love their people, because they sense that they're loved & cared for.

I agree with dappled on this one!!!
I think it's so cute and makes me happy when the animal loves the human because usually the human loves the animal!!!!

Haha! My 18 year old cat keeps in line my 7 month old pitbull puppy. He cowers when the cat bops him. Shelter pets are just the best.

Awwww!! I just love cats. I have an 18 year old that I got from the shelter when she was 6 mos old. I also have an 8 year old cat that my daughter rescued. She named him Scratchy! What a great cat. He loves me so much. Sleeps next to my head and washes my forehead. Won't cuddle with anyone but me. My daughter gets jealous cuz she found him. Oh well!!

Tori, that is great. My oldest is 5 years old and he is also from a shelter. I have had him since, they estimate, he was 3 months. He is the best cat I have ever had. He has a great temper and have never had any problems. I ended up getting another rescue cat about 3 years ago and she is very sweet. They just seem more gracious than my newest. I ordered a bred Tonkinese (Tonkin, Vietnam) male last year. He is a great looking specimen, has the outgoing personality but he really lacks that attitude and loyalty that my other two have had since the get-go. I am not at home as much as I'd like due to business but my girlfriend spends a lot of time with him and she states he is just a brat. Haha! Maybe the two elders will break him. ;)

Speaking from personal experience, adopted cats tend to get very attached to whoever rescued them. That's why I'll never forget the shelter cat I adopted for my 11th birthday. He was the sweetest cat I've ever owned, a real ball of love. Everyone should adopt a shelter cat at least once in their lives (unless they're allergic to cats). It's a win-win situation.

I love my puppies too. This is completely normal. I feel like my puppies are my babies and carry them around as if they were. I talk to them when I'm home alone and I feed them from my own spoon. It's not strange to love. Definitely not.

Great story. Having a bond with a pet is a wonderful thing.

I have cats and enjoy taking care of them and the loyalty I get from them in return. Sometimes if I have had a horrible day and just come home in a stressed mood, one of my cats will instinctually just start rubbing on my leg or meow at me. It is comforting that they can read people so well.

Yes it normal. That's why I love cats. They literally become attached to you. And it's unusually interesting when they pick up human like traits.

My old cat used to race me upstairs. Seriously he knew my schedule and would actually wait at the stairs. Watch tv when I did. And somehow he even potty trained himself.

    Cats are just that awesome!
