Is it normal that i have this reoccurring dream.

I had this reoccurring dream when I was 5 all the way up to 12. There is this T-Rex that is my best friend in my dreams. He had no specific name and if he did I don't remember, also he was able to speak complete sentences. In my dreams we had great experiences and conversation, but when I hit the age of 12 the reoccurring dreams ceased with one final dream. There is a gully in my front yard in real life, so in my dream it took place there. I remember searching for my best friend (T-Rex) but he was no where to be found. I heard a loud roar of pain in the gully behind all the thick, dense trees and shrubs. I knew it was him, so I raced down the gully only to be confronted by soilders in gas masks and black camo. They didn't let me enter. One of the soilders said it will be alright kid. That's when I woke up. Can someone please explain their ideas of the symbolism occurring in this dream, I'm 19 now and it's always made me ponder.
