Is it normal that i have to lock the bathroom door all the time?

Every time I head into the bathroom no matter what it may be, washing hands, brushing teeth, going to the bathroom anything no matter what I always have to make sure the door is locked when I enter the bathroom, is this normal? I won't use any public bathrooms because they don't lock but also they can be quite nasty.

Yes It's normal, I lock the door even if no one is home as it makes me feel more secure about using the loo, I also have a password on my computer account even though none of my family do and although I don't have anything for them to find it makes me feel secure knowing I have privacy.

Closing the door and locking it is one motion for me, I don't even think about it.

I once was at my uncles house and there was no key to the bathroom door - also it was too far away from the toilet to block it with my foot. Taking a dump was incredebly unconfortable knowing one of my toddler cousins could walk in any time.

I say totally normal, most of us do it in one motion without even thinking about it. I once was at a music festival, went to use the porto potty and some woman was doing her business but failed to lock the door and opened it on her, that was awkward. So yes locking the door...kind of a good habit.

I HATE bathrooms that don't have locks. Bathroom time=private time, no matter what you're doing in there. Even brushing teeth is a private matter!

The room doors in my house don't have locks unfortunately, so I couldn't do that even if I wanted to. =/

I live alone and always leave it open so my Siamese cat can come and go as he pleases. Sometimes I do close the door but that's only because I like it when he opens the door and walks in cause it's über cute!

I live alone too and I leave the door open so my dog can hang out with me while I shit. He cries if I shut the door.

Right on! My Siamese always brings me his toys to play fetch while I'm on the porcelain throne.

It is an automatic reaction for me. I might be at home by myself but it is always done without thinking. I once locked myself in the bathroom when I went in there to clean the toilet. I looked back the door wondering why I did that.
