Is it normal that i have to look away to pay attention.

I have to look away from the teacher to understand what s/he says. Looking in his/her eyes cuase me to have difficulty listening to him/her. I believe I focus too much at look at the teacher when looking in his/her eyes.

You're probably just more of an auditory learner. I wouldn't be sure, since I'm anything but, but I sometimes have the same problem if someone's talking while I'm reading, especially if they're reading aloud the same thing I'm trying to read. So yeah, it's completely normal.

I have this problem sometimes. When I look at people, I think too much about how their mouths are moving to understand them sometimes.

The brain works in mysterious ways...and it is CONSTANTLY working! Sometimes it is much easier to listen by closing our eyes. Not sure why, so I can't explain it scientifically, but I would have to say it has something to do with limiting and focusing your sensory intake.

I had the same difficulty, so what i did was started getting my focus on study instead of my teacher. Don't look at her/him, look at the board and just listen what they say. I believe study is more important. So focus..
