Is it normal that i have to reply to peoples text messages?

Is it normal that if someone texts me, I HAVE to text back. If i dont I feel guilty, and that I'm hurting their feelings by ignoring them. I always have to be the last person to send the final messge. If I'm doing something and someone messages me, I immediately drop everything I'm doing and am reading the text within 30 seconds. I tried to stop doing this, by turning my phone on silent so I couldnt hear it, and not with vibrate so i couldnt feel it either, but i found myself checking my phone evry three to five mins anyway. :( and For example of this habit, I once sent over 930 messages in three days. Luckily I was on a plan, but i was over half of my $500 plan within ten days.. Is this normal, for me to have to always reply back?

    I been trying to block people from texting me. I wish it would end!

    I remember the days before cell phones.....ahh memories...flashbacks actually. Anyway, I'm sure people don't do the same thing for you, right? So you're taking texting a bit too seriously. And what are the texts? Important things or just like super totally bff chit chat? To drop everything and have to look at the message, do you do this at work and or school? While driving? You're going to have deformed thumbs if you don't get a grip on this.

    There will be times when I feel obliged to respond to messages and I feel the best thing to do at these times is to intentionally leave some unresponded to. Youll get over it

    I do that because I almost always start the conversation when it comes to texting
    If not, it usually has to do with homework and such and they need help

    This is totally my problem too, i have to reply, if not i feel so bad. My boyfriend gets irritated by it because if my ex text me ill text back a nice "Stop texting me please" and my boyfriends like "Stop being so nice."

    Are you a human? Do you have any sense of self control? Or are you an animal who just has to act?
    People saying they 'have' to do something like sending a text message for your case, just seems so primitive. In fact, those with OCD, act on anger impulsively (which is my problem), and what not use the most primitive part of the brain.
    It's quite sad honestly. Our bodies and minds are capable of so much more.
    We are not animals. We have free will.. You're choosing to text back and letting the emotion of guilt take over. Instead of logic.
    Are you so awesome that if you don't text back someone will actually feel horrible that you didn't respond?
    Or... Are you so insecure that you're afraid that no one will like you if you don't text them back?
    I hardly believe that someone will actually care that you didn't respond, or I they did, I doubt they would care enough for you to actually feel guilty... You're not that special. Sorry =\
