Is it normal that i itch right after drying up from a shower?

As soon as I dry up after taking a shower my thighs, arms and lower leg start itching like crazy. It's very frustrating and makes me dread taking showers. My ex gave me an 'ion crystal' showerhead and it stopped. I believe there's something in the water that's responsible for the itch. Whatever it is, the shower head definitely filtered it out. I just need to know if there are other people out there who are having the same experiencing or similar and if there's a possibility of having something reactive in the tap water we so dearly rely on.

      It's been going on for years, so yes I've used different soaps.

    Are you taking any medications? My doctor gave me Lisinopril for high blood pressure, and I was constantly breaking out in hives, thought I was getting chronic fatigue syndrome. I even started thinking I was allergic to all my aromatherapy bath products, I wasn't, was having side effects from the high blood pressure medication.

      No ma'am, no prescribed medications other than vitamins. I've used different soaps and sometimes showered without soap. Still itches. That leaves the water as prime suspect.

    I get this if I have a shower in the morning, but not if I have one in the evening.

    My understanding is that it's because of the diurnal cycle of histamine release. Histamine is involved in sleep/wake control, but also the immune response. This is why antihistamines stop you itching, but also make you sleepy.

    Try changing the time of day that you shower I think that will help.

    What type of water is it? Do you know if it’s soft water or hard. Some people are sensitive to certain water types.

        Oh you would know the difference, trust me. Soft water leaves a feeling like you just put moisturizing lotion on your skin right after you showered. Almost feels like your skin has a residue on it but it really doesn’t. Also, your hair would be very soft, but feel greasy way quicker than regular water/hard water. Soft water has a feeling of not having the soap completely washed off but they say that’s the best type of water to prevent dry, cracked or irritated skin. I personally can’t stand it but people rave about it lol

    Yup. I get itchy after shaving. Just use lotion and you'll be good. Its usually just the hot water anyways

      Lotion is not the problem guys. I don't know if I can handle bathing with cold water in this cold season. I may try in the summer and see if it makes any difference.
