Is it normal that i like colleges with lack of diversity?

I don't mean to sound racist or anything. I just tend to hang out with people of similar background to mine. Of course I hang out with all kinds of backgrounds, the majority just tend to be white. Is it bad that I think this way?

Perfectly normal! I don't want to hang around people who aren't like myself. There's nothing wrong with not wanting a diverse environment. Diversity leads to walking on eggshells in order to not offend everyone else. Fuck diversity.

It's fine. Honestly, I feel the same way. Only thing is I'm black, but I always had more white friends. I grew up around more white people and mostly Caucasian neighborhoods, so a related more to white people then people of my own race. I completely get it. As long as you're not hating on a race just because they're another race, it's fine.

  • Totally normal. And if diversity is such a great thing, why is it that people seem to be much happier without it?

Heh, it's sad how, if you had said you were mexican or asian or black, everybody would have said ''normal'' right away, even though whites are probably the most diverse race, coming from all over the world they have all different cultures too. It's normal, sometimes it just happens that way, that those you find most interesting happen to be white, doesn't have to be a racial issue.

I'm the complete opposite. I would hate to go to a homogenous college. College is about opening your mind to new ideas and experiences and challenging what you think you already know.

I agree, college is used to open up your mind, which is why I'm traveling to so many different countries while I'm in college, this year im going to study abroad in italy for 3 weeks, then im going on a missions trip to the dominican republic. And in the next couple years I also plan to spend a summer in Australia reaching out to peoplee with my christian group and also spend a couple weeks with my friend at his home in Ethiopia.

Is your friend Oromo Ethiopian? I work with a bunch of Ethiopians, all Oromo, all 7th Day Adventist.

    I don't think you're a jerk, but I do think you're limiting yourself.

I'd hate it given that I love Indian girls and I'm White.

It's normal, but I prefer more diversity. If the college is really good I wouldn't be focusing on diversity, but more on what the school had to offer. In a sense, you're limiting yourself.

It's limiting to only hang around one culture and not learn about another.

Mkay, but I don't just hang out with one culture, less diversity doesn't mean "no diversity at all." Plus I travel alot.
