Is it normal that i like color pink?

Ever since I was a child I've liked the color pink. Back in the 90's (and even further than that) it was totally normal for a girl to like pink (I think it was even encouraged) so I reveled in the fact I liked pink.

But when I started to grow up, it seemed as if an anti-pink faction had formed on society. When asked girls said their favorite color was black or red or blue, anything but pink, but when I said my favorite color was pink I was judged. If I bought an item or something I liked in pink, I was later criticized or weirdly looked by other people.

I may think this happens because of the assumption Barbie/Princess = Pink. But I'm like, the least girly girl of all my circle of friends and family. I don't act or like to act like a princess. I don't see life as a party full of rainbows and unicorns. So why does it really matters what my favorite color is?

Is it really abnormal to like pink?

Man enough to wear pink. If you are a lady this is what is expected of girls.

I think if someone has the audacity to assume your entire personality by a single color, then they are pretty consumed by social standards. And that's incredibly sad.

I enjoy blue, and orange. I've become more girly in the last few years, although I'm still a tomboy at heart. My colors have changed throughout the years, but it's only a minor factor that I've changed. It doesn't describe who I am, or was.

I used to LOVE purple when I was 10, and stepped on bumblebees. Doesn't make me girly, just makes me a slight idiot.

I like pink myself, and I don't think you should care about what other people think about it. -It's just a colour.

A lot of people these days are making it cool to seem tomboyish or something. Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" for example is literally her saying she's the girl the guy she is hitting on should date because she's not girly. It is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I think the hatred for pink has less to do with the fact it is linked with Barbie and more to do with the fact that a lot of societal standards for women are being reversed. It's similar to "real women have curves!" or when people say "women look better without make-up and in sweats!" I think a lot of people are catching on to the damage it is causing women to project beauty standards onto them, but all it is doing is creating new beauty standards. It's really unfair. Nothing is wrong with make-up or being feminine.

The worst part is that these things are mostly feminine because we say they are. If my favorite color was black, would that mean I was goth? No, so it should be the same for the color pink. I will never understand why girls who like the color blue aren't considered tomboys or lesbians but guys who like the colors pink or purple are considered effeminate or gay. Like you said, pink is just a color. Many people who like barbies and fashion hate pink, and many people who like pink hate barbies and fashion. It doesn't matter. Personally my favorite color is dark blue, but it used to be light pink and I still like light pink a lot. Don't care about what people think you should like or the implications they place on you for liking such a color. They don't mean anything.

I like some shades of pink like, soft pink and rose. In Colour Psychology, pink has very relaxing effects on the mind. :) I think it is beyond weird that you've been treated so badly for your love of pink. I remember a case last October, where a man was wearing a deep pink shirt in an airport and got beating up by another man for it. I think the guy who beat him, thought he was gay. It's pretty ridiculous and sad.

I dislike pink, but only because it doesn't suit my skin tone. I have no idea why people hate pink so much.

Real men don't wear pink, they eat it.

It's absolutely normal, your tastes are your own, and what you like doesn't need to be shared by others for it to be normal and valid. Every color has it's beauty.

Of course it's normal! Just be comfortable with your own tastes. Don't let other people tell you what to like.

  • I like pink too. If you could see me right now you'd notice I have pink headphones in, a pink headband on, the inside of my glasses are light pink and an iPad with a pink cover. (I just noticed this. XP) I'm not sure if it's my favorite color, this often changes, but I never hate on pink.

Actually, half the time I favor two colors at once and usually pink is one of them. For instance, my current favorite colors are yellow and pink. Before it was green and pink, but if you asked me to choose between the two I'd say the formers. Pink is more like a comfort or support for me or maybe it is me. I'll date the other colors but I'll marry pink. ♡ ;P
