Is it normal that i like soviet music while i live in western europe?

For no explainable reason I feel no connection to any kind of music but soviet music from 1900 to 1970.
I notice that most people tend to keep their distance from me and or make fun of this when they figure this out about me.

I was raised with mainstream music on the radio, but it just didn't work for me. I have tried almost all kinds of music but I keep falling back to this.

Also I think I might be almost alone with this since it is really hard to find anything on the subject.

    It's perfectly normal. I myself like listening to old German marches and the like (People jokingly(?) call me a Nazi because of this); music is simply music, and everyone has their own unique tastes.

    My son listens to Soviet music. He likes the USSR anthem, it's kind of weird but you're not the only one! He's 8 btw.

    Sounds rather maniacally lonesome. But I sometimes listen to music that no one else around me cares to listen to as well, although not exclusively. My music taste is a pretty broad spectrum.

    I don't know why people would withdraw from you because of your musical taste..that doesn't really make sense to me.

    Hey, you are OK! As an (African) American, I like some of that experimental noise electronic music, believe it or not, which is largely a Russian phenomenon. You might find some of it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TechMechObject .
