Is it normal that i like to smell my pads?

For those of you yapping about how bad "your" pads smell, maybe there's something wrong with you. Your pad shouldn't be so disgusting that it makes you gag. Maybe you're the one who needs to see a doctor about your womanly area. Bad hygiene, STD's and bacterial infections could be the cause of the foul odor that is making you gag. There's no need to criticize someone about something they like just because you don't. I think its very normal and mature to be able to discuss this without embarrassment.

I don't see why it matters.....as long as you don't go around shouting "I SMELL MEH PADS!!!" your fine.

people don't know why they do it, but it's your natural way of checking up on your own health. a different smell is an easy sign something's up, or going away. also the reason why everybody looks at their poop when they're done. nobody knows why they do it, but it's left-over instinct from when it was humans' method of self-diagnosis, and totally normal. NOT FUCKED UP!

I did that a couple times. I think it's my way of making sure that it smells normal. I like to smell the crotch of my underwear, too, for the same reason.

I think you guys are overreacting. The blood smells interesting. Sometimes I do it too. It's not like we're rubbing our faces in it or anything jeez!

I don't think it really matters if you sniff your OWN pads or not, but you probably shouldn't mention it to other people. You know, just in case it...scares them off or something. :P

honey ..its 100% normal i do it and alot other people do it too its fine to want to smell whats coming out of ur body to make sure it smells ok .u read in gp leaflets that if ur dicharge has a funny smell then u need to get it cheked ....well how the fuk do u know wot it smells like if u dont sniff it ...its important to know wot it smells like cuz if oone time its smells bad then u can compare it to the noraml scent and tell if u need to go to ur gp .so all of u that are saying its wrong well i bet most of u have got some kind of infection and you dont even know! sniff on darlin

I don't think it's so weird. It's a good way to keep tabs on your vaginal health - knowing your regular scent and occasionally checking it to make sure it hasn't changed. I sometimes sniff, more often when I'm not bleeding and I've done this ever since I began to have discharge. You shouldn't fear anything about yourself.

I think this is very normal. It's your body. Just like how people think it's normal to look at their poop, girls do this to make sure they are healthy. And, it's a curiosity thing. It's your scent, your hormones, your pheromones... Normal.

I find the smell interesting, so long as the blood hasn't turned brown. I mean, that's sort of like smelling a steak that has been left in the sun. Many animals use their scents to identify themselves in social situations. As humans, before the invention of perfumes and deoderants probably did the same thing.. i mean not like sniff each other's butts or something. well who knows maybe prehistoric men ran around sniffing each other's butts. Guess we'll never know. I like the way my husband smells when he's sweaty. I like his brand of stink i guess.. its his chemistry. and i'm a believer of this because the scent of his cologne changes when he puts it on. He makes it smell better in my opinion.

I dont get it, guys smell and like the way females smell, i hear about it all the time! But is not okay for a girl to do it and thats including that its her body? Ive never done this but people should respect that other women are in one with their own body to love and be comfortable enought to do this! So let me explain. It's good you know there's a problem, and smell can tell us so much about the health of our "parts". I think that's why bad things in nature developed a stench, and we recognize it as a problem. The urge to smell is natural. It's a defense, so go ahead and sniff.
However please no nose touching, wash up very well afterward, and keep it to yourself.

I think that you will be fine as long as you don't go around shouting it but it is a way to keep "in the know" about your health so as long as you don't re-use it or lick it you will probbably be fine.

Well I don't take a huge whiff of it, but I kind of do it also so I get what you are saying. Personally, I've been told I have really good hygiene so maybe that's the reason the smell doesn't want to make us gag.

its not abnormal to have a compulsion to do something like that. Sometimes we get curious about ourselves. Now, if it smells wrong or different than it normally does, you might not be cleaning yourself properly. I have never smelled anything when i change my pad or tampon, but then again, i try to keep myself as clean as possible. My boyfriend thanks me for it lol

I catch my boyfriend rooting through the bin to smell mine. He likes to sniff things like eye sleep, ear wax, and when he picks pimples he sniffs the pus. Some people just do that instinctively, I guess you're one of those people.

well i've smelled it while changing them, not intentinally sniffing... i cant stand blood, so the smell makes me want to gag, so does the sight, the thought of seeing it or smelling it....you get the picture. so it wouldn't be normal for me, but i guess it could be for you?

Don't listen to the people who are saying it's nasty and you are sick. They're probably doing way worse and are too ashamed to admit it. I actually like the smell, and I sniff each pad I take off. It's perfectly normal to be curious about your body and what comes out of it! How else can we know when something's wrong?
