Is it normal that i like to smell pages of new magazines and books?

I do too. I love this. And here I thought I was the only one.

I LOVE the smell of new things. I love buying a new book and gently opening its pages when I get home. That scent is wonderful and it's voice to feel those soft and crisp pages underneath my fingertips. I also like the smell of new CDs/DVDs or games. I used to do this with some new clothes and cars too.

Books are irresistible. Smelled them when I was a kid. Still do it.

Perhaps I'm reading too far into this but could it be possible that you relate this smell to an event in your life that made you feel great? Maybe you received a magazine or CD from somebody when you were young and you appreciated it and the person who gave it to you?

I used to smell it when I was a kid. Somehow it's calming and keep me from closing the book. However I notice that books/mags these days don't really smell like it used to be. Maybe it's my nose, or they don't make papers that way anymore.

Yes, I do this. Almost every book/series has a unique smell to it, and for me it's part of the experience of reading (which is why, despite being the technology fan I am, I'm never going to read with a tablet). I haven't noticed DVDs/video games smelling differently from each other, but I still like the smell. New computers smell nice too, but I don't get to enjoy that smell that often.
It's interesting how often I've seen this question asked online, but I've never met anyone in real life who does this, as far as I know of.
