Is it normal that i like to wear shorts that go above my knees?

I'm 21 years old, male, and I like to wear shorts that go above my knees. As for how much above my knees...it depends, but a good couple of inches at least. Like 3-4 inches, so I can get a good tan on that mid to lower thigh. My shorts tend to be around 7 inch inseam, though I also own 9 and 5 inch inseam.

However, my peers all wear shorts knee-length or longer, and make fun of my shorter length shorts (even the 9 inch inseam). They're like, "Dang dude, those are some really short shorts." Or they just call me gay or whatever.
