Is it normal that i lose memory for a specific period of time?

From other peoples perspective: Most common one for me to explain is when I'm in middle of a conversation. I may be talking to someone and just stop for no reason staring in some invisible dot. Then they have to yell or push me a little to "wake me up".

From my perspective It's like having emptiness in my brain. I have no memory of the moment. It's like I jumped in time or something like that.

It's not that easy to hide. It mostly happens when I'm extremely nervous or excited and if it's really bad, it can happen several times per min. It often happens when I'm doing a presentation in front of a class or just doing sport.

It's quite annoying and lately, i started talking while I'm in that "stance".I always recall the last words I speak. I usually say: "I'm here, I'm here" , "Don't worry, I'm alright" if someone is beside me. I rarely yell but it happened, don't recall what I said, sorry.

When I "Get back" I'm always a bit confused and first few seconds I need to realize where I am and what I'm doing. I don't really faint cause i don't fall. It can happen while I stand too. But the feeling is like I do.

Thanks in advance for reading this. If anyone knows what's this about, please help.

I think you need to be tested for petit mal epilepsy, it sounds a lot like it to me. I'm glad you haven't learned how to drive because you'd be a huge danger on the road if such an episode hit while you were driving

I do this too. I think it's because I get distracted. But I also have a really high processing rate and I tend to think about multiple things a lot. It's happened while driving too. I'll drive for a couple of miles and wake up as you put it and get scared even though nothing bad happens.

I always wondered what would happened if I "get distracted" while driving. I am old enough to get a licence but, this thought keeps me away from learning how to drive. Thank you on your opinion.

Same thing happens to me. I've also had other seizures lately so I've assumed they're related.. I have absence seizures where I don't even realise what happened and the experience is a bit different. One time I was playing a video game, everything was fine, next thing I know I saw the ending of an animation and my character was dead. With the episodes you mentioned, I stare at a fixed point and my vision goes blurry. It's like I'm spacing out, except when I try to recall what I was doing, I realise that I was simply sitting there like vegetable. No thought process at all, but I know when they happened.
Perhaps it some form of anxiety?
