Is it normal that i'm 19, and i never heard of eminem's lose yourself?

On Friday night, my brother and his roommate played the song. They sang along and asked if I knew this song. I said that I never heard of it. My brother began making an "exaggerated" frown. He is sure that I have heard it before, and called it the Thriller of its time. I swear that I never heard it in school or on the radio or on tv or wherever. I know songs popular during the early 2000s and late 90s such as I'm Blue, Who let the Dogs out, the Hamster Dance, Crazy Frog, Mambo No. 5, etc. Maybe I never heard of it because I don't listen to rap.

    I'm 28 and I grew up listening to Classic Rock stations so I never had to listen to that rap garbage.

    Well it's one of his most most popular and famous songs, and an interesting piece of trivia for you is that Eminem is actually the only rapper to win an Oscar, for the song "Lose Yourself" in the category of Best Original Music Score when that track was featured as the theme for the movie 8 Mile where he was also the main actor.

    I personally never listened to a full Eminem song. I've heard clips especially with the Rap God thing but never a full song.
