Is it normal that i'm 20 but feel like 16?

I'm going to be 21 next month, but I still feel the same as when I was 16-17. I'm more mature of course, but in my essence I feel exactly the same, even to an extent where I still feel awkward around some adults. I always feel like they're playing some sort of fake role, like they're always pretending. They're too serious to be real! I'm studying a career but I feel it lacks relevance, as well as jobs. They're important but they shouldn't be the center of our lives, they're just a tiny aspect of it. Friendship and enjoying yourself is more important; we've only got one life. I mainly feel adults take everything just too seriously (themselves, specially).

Anyone else feels like this?

I think that you're confused because of how you want your life to go, and at q6 you were probably the same. We're all a little nervous about the future. The best you can do is work hard and try to figure out what you want to do with your life. Not all adults are the way you see them and not everyone is a slave to their job. If you want to avoid being like them, then do something that you're passionate about. As my friend would tell me, "don't be another casualty of society."

I dunno, I'm almost 30 and i'm stuck in my teens. Yes, I've got all my "grown up creds" like a good job, uni degree, credit card collection. But it all acts like my "leave me alone" shield for other grown-ups. Insides I'm still a kid and I love it. My ex mentioned something about "peter pan syndrome", I mentioned something about Angelman's syndrome. (see, it's maybe immature, but still hilarious ;P)

    enjoy your life!

Totally normal, don't worry! I'm 24 and have the feeling I'm still 19 or so. Everyone grows up in a particular pace and what you should be feeling at your age is just a convention. And if you feel like people are playing a fake role (as many of them are, or are just clueless and imitating everyone else) maybe you have a writer's soul! Many writers share the fact they let their own body "feelings" dictate their age and have also this critical view of reality. Think about it!

I am 21 and I fell as if I am 12, getting older doesn't change anything. Age is just a number, however growing up can happen at anytime. Some people it just takes longer than others.

Im 20 and feel the same way. I actually feel as if I was 14 or 15. I still like to play hide and seek with my friends at dark. I also enjoy prank calling people and riding bikes or scooters. Its weird.

not all adults think like that... and i think like that and i think im alone, especially within my age group (same as yours) so i think you're overly normal.
on a side note you should really read the novella called "The Little Prince"

I'm 20 and I don't feel like it. In my country 20 is an adult, but it just isn't sinking in for me. I still have sleepovers with friends (Not sexually) and play UNO and stuff on friday nights and I love it!! :P But I've also finished college and am working on finding a job, so in ways i'm more mature to. I don't know, who really decides who's an adult and who's not?

    Hello there!

I'm 24, and I didn't start to feel like an adult until I had my kids...and even then, sometimes it feels as though I'm still waiting to mature!

I think the greatest gift of all is to be youthful, even if it isn't always easy. Youngsters see the world in a different way - sometimes I wonder if more of us were like kids, we'd live in a better world.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any advice!

    xx
