I'm afraid to touch them because I think they might bite and scratch. I also just don't like to touch them because I get a wave of revulsion like people typically get when touching slugs or maggots, plus their fur feels gross and they have scary faces.
Being afraid they might bite or scratch I can understand but the other stuff I don't get.
I think most of them feel really gross. Their fur is sleek and almost oily, but the wave of revulsion that I get from touching one doesn't really have much to do with how they feel. It's more of an "oh my god, I just touched a cat" type thing. When I'm around them, I get that creepy crawly sensation that people get when they are grossed out by bugs. I'm not really sure why I think their faces are scary. Those things are just creepy-looking.
Maybe you're allergic to cat dander? Unfortunately a lot of stupid people don't wash their cats. I started training my cat, washing him, clipping his nails and doing other grooming activities when he was a baby. Now he's just a sweet, little cuddle-bug. I love my velcro kitty! I can wash him in the tub like a baby.
I can understand being afraid, they do have an awful lot of pointy bits. I don't get the disgust though. I, like most people, think cats are rather aesthetically pleasing.
I'm afraid of Dogs but I'm not disgusted by them. I think cats are cute but I'm afraid of them too. Being afraid and disgusted of these animals seems normal to me.
I would be more afraid to touch a dog than a harmless cute fluffy little cat lmao
