I am always terrified of getting older because I want to stay young, and I feel like everyone around me is growing to fast.
Is this normal?
Same with me. I feel like everyone is so 'developed' and I'm still that kid playing on the computer and watching cartoons in my house because the idea of becoming an adult and working sucks. Maybe we just need to grow up :/
A lot of people feel that way, and I thought about it a lot considered I just turned 18 and graduated high school last year. Now that I moved in with my boyfriend and then got married, I'm not afraid of anything really. Growing up doesn't seem scary when you have someone to grow with I guess.
Oh this helped alot. I'm not the original poster but I was thinking the same thing. I'm just scared that when I turn into an adult that I won't acomplish my dreams and I'll become jobless. Uhhh! Scary stuff...
Truth is, the world is a terrible place nowadays. Find some like-minded people with similar morals and values; it makes growing up a lot easier.
It's pretty normal. It's called the fear of the unknown and we all get that fear many times thru our lives
It's sort of like when you're a child and think that you'll NEVER kiss (or have sex) with anyone. The idea of it is appalling to us as children, but then we grow up a little and then we change our minds.
It's the same thing with growing up. You don't want to now because you're too young and not mentally ready to handle it, but one day you will be.
I feel the exact same way. I have resolved to live my life like Peter Pan and never grow up.
