Is it normal that i'm an asshole on this site on purpose?

I make rude and otherwise nonconstructive remarks on most of the stories that catch my eye here. Why? Because I like testing people. Most fail the test. They demonstrate that they've been deceived into thinking that the internet is serious business, that they have great hubris, and that they cannot tolerate opposing opinions even on a silly online forum. They probably lose sleep at night if they cannot get the last word in on some silly argument here. How pathetic.

I agree! and the way some people respond to them are pretty funny too!

  • I think trolls are the ones who can't sleep at night because they just want to keep getting the last word because that's how childish they're. Also, if it were a silly online forum, why bother commenting on it? 7 pm curfew incoming.

  • I've already written this on some other story but I'll repeat it here: I don't get upset over this kind of thing. For all I know, these people might live a million miles away from me, I don't have to see them/deal with them IRL on a daily basis, so I just don't see the point in being upset over them.

  • Beeswaxsmith

Yes, and no. Sometimes, I do the same on other sites just to test people, too.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • MELLO

Make the test more interesting? Make them think rather than letting anger take control. This "test" seems incredibly boring from my perspective. Of course a typical human is going to want to have the last word, majority of these idiots are posting their vulnerabilities on here and you're poking at it, how else are they going to react? I agree that trolling is funny, but I get bored easily with repetitiveness.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • BfingIToucher

It's the same kind of people who act like jerks in a movie theater because it's dark. Probably not courageous enough to behave that way without anonymity. But they feel a sense of power and control acting that way. It's pathetic. Still, I enjoy wit and sarcasm even if it's on the meaner side if it comes from someone intelligent. Name-calling, bad spelling, incomplete thoughts -- those "trolls" must feel particularly awful about themselves because they don't even have brains on their sides, just mean spirits.

Simply pointing out a small discrepancy in your chain of reasoning. You say people can't tolerate opinions different from theirs. And I agree with you completely, there's so much pointless bashing on this site because people can't agree to disagree.

But debating a difference in opinion is different from trolling, and you're trolling by your own admission. So it's quite possible someone would argue with a troll, while they wouldn't be angry at someone who was debating formally.

Still, people should know better than to respond to the troll comments. XD they just play right into your trap.

I think on some level everyone likes to test others, I certainly do. I change little things in people's lives to see if they confront me about it. You'd be amazed at how many people try to solve issues by ignoring them.

Honestly though I am not the troll, I am a debaterdudeman. I will troll simply when I see an opportunity lol. It IS funny when people get ANGRY AND TYPE IN ALL CAPITALS OVER THE INTERNET LIKE THEY WILL GET THEIR POINT ACROSS BETTER.

Trolls are funny, and they need love too.

LMAO!! Honestly, I love trolls and their responses, they crack me up--usually, more so because of their behavior than their comments! I myself am proud to say I have been and have not been a troll, so I've been on both sides. The thing to remember with the internet is to take everything with a grain of salt. If I pose some serious question and some people decide to troll, then I just ignore them (mostly I laugh first, but ultimately I ignore them) and move along. Like that old song goes, you gotta know when to hold them, and know when to fold them. Don't take shit so seriously--ESPECIALLY on a site like this.

Notice he didn't answer? Strange how some people get kicks from being nasty or cruel even, and it is totally about 'amusing' themselves at the expense of others.

While other people get their kicks from being interesting and witty and generally fun for others to be around.

I really don't understand it and I'm curious to know what drives them. I suspect it's that feeling weak in real situations makes people overcompensate in these artificial internet situations, but it'd be good to hear it from the asses mouth, so to speak.

Noticed your comments around and I know which side of the coin you fall on.

I think you make a real point about being weak, this kind of behaviour is usually classed as bullying especially if there is no fear of any real reprisal.

Yes well...I like my side of the coin, the best people reside here!

Keep doing what you are doing, its amazing. Really. Its fantastic that you thrive on making other people feel bad. I've got a dream to do the same thing, I really think it makes you a good person to hurt others feelings.

Or does it? Actually I'm not sure. Oh fuck, I'm a terrible person! (head in hands) oh no, dear me.
All those people I've hurt simply because I had nothing better to do. My life just seems that much better after trolling.

Maybe we should both go to a church and confess our sins? what do you say buddy? We could have some cheesecake in a diner afterwards. Please, I need this.

          • sleepingbeauty

Ah so here we have the nature vs nurture argument. I'll tell you now, we choose how we behave as adults, its not 'in your nature'.

Possibly your upbringing and experiences (if you have any of course, I wouldn't want to make assumptions on that point) may have influenced your view of life, but you then make a choice as to how you behave as a result of that.
