Is it normal that i'm bulimic but hate throwing up?

I've been bulimic for 5 years. I throw up after everything I eat, but the thing is that I absolutely despise throwing up. I hate the disgusting taste of puke, and I hate the pain and discomfort of shoving things down my throat all the time. By the way, I am currently in recovery. So is it normal to be Bulimic but hate purging?

Well, no one in their right mind enjoys puking unless they're piss drunk and it erases nausea. Anyway, that being said, it's perfectly normal that you don't enjoy the act of purging: being Bulimic, you likely enjoyed the "positive" effects of purging, those being loss/neutral weight modification.

However, I put the word "positive" in quotations for a reason--there are no positive effects of Bulimia! I'm thankful that your in recovery. Use what you eat to your advantage...eat good food and gain good weight (muscle) and only vomit to avoid alcohol poisoning!

I agree. Bulimia is not about loving the act of throwing up. It is an illness and addiction. Good luck in your recovery.

Oh dear :o( Love your teeth and don't do it anymore.

People's opinions of you aren't important enough for you to destroy your health :o(

    I'm so glad you've stopped.

Hmm, i don't know anout about bulimia. A girl I used to date was bulimic, but I didn't know that back then. BUT, what I do know -I don't suppose anyone who's bulimic is really enjoying the purging. it's a complulsive act based on your lacking view of your body and other mental factors. You don't puke just cause it's fun, to put it bluntly.

    good luck!

I wouldn't say it's normal at all, those two things contradict each other. However, I'm glad to hear that you are in recovery.
