Is it normal that i'm scared of the future?

The future really scares me when I think about it. I'm concerned about what's going to happen to life in the next few decades. Will we run out of ideas for new techology? Will America become so powerful that we are forced to make every other country an America state in order to prevent the economy from crashing again? Will we ever put an end to the War on Terror? Will popular music get even worse than it is now (rap and hip-hop)? Will YouTube still exist, or will it haven been replaced? What will fill the void when all of the world's best franchises like the Mario games and Doctor Who finally end? Will Japanese robots that do things for you one day become available for purchase? Will coal really run out? There are so many questions you can ask about where we are going.

I don't actually want the future to happen. I just wish that forever everything will stay as it is to prevent life from being turned upside down. IIN?

We will never run out of ideas for technology, trust me. 8 years ago there was no such thing as an iPhone no one in their wildest dreams ever thought they can call, scan bar codes, have a dictionary, have a gps, and then play a game of battleship all on their 9.3 mm thick slab of glass and metal. Hell the iPhone 4 has more processing power then the United states missile defense system did in 1967. True fact :P

I am a Christian and have still a tendency to worry about the future also, esp with kids growing up. First thing i have to do is take medication for my mind racing because it goes on overdrive thinking about everything> I think this is really important to get some meds to "calm the mind" down. Then, I try to focus on each day and not go into down the road, because we might not even be here. God tells us not to worry about tomorrow. To cast it on Him because he cares for us. As long as you have believe on Jesus for your saviour you are Gods child and God will take care of you. Spend time with him and focus on what he wannts us to do, to love one another. We can't do anythingn about the future, just trust he knows and will work it out and we are his...

I've been told that the United States is like the new Roman empire. And if you know anything about Rome it rose for 300 years then declined for 200 years, bringing upon them the dark ages ( the middle ages.) so I can see why you would worry. I think that too sometimes. So it's quite normal.

Eh, I worried about that stuff for a while, but then I realized that whether I worried or not, the same stuff was still going to happen. I decided to float down the river of life on my inner-tube of awesomeness and watch the world happen around me.

stop borrowing trouble. theres no use getting so worked up over something you absolutely cannot control. van wilder said it best, "worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere"

  • I think China will become the strongest in the future. Anyways, don't worry about it. We change, we adapt. You might not even live to see all the things you mentioned so don't be scared.
