Is it normal that i'm sick of peoples' pets?

This is all said in good humor, but

I'm sick and demn tired of people and their pets. seems like everyone and their dog has a dog. especially people my age (young 20s) looking for roommates in cheap apartments. There are so many people I have to turn down because of the no-pets-allowed rule. Not only that, but why would I want to live with your stinky animals, when there is just enough space as it is and you can't even clean up after yourself?
I just think people should put more thought into having pets (in the same way they should with children). Wait until you have a decent home of your own, where you won't have trouble finding an apartment or have to move into a small shared living space with your animals. I think it's really silly that so many low-income earning folks my age just HAVE to have their fido, even though their lifestyle really doesn't support it.

Honestly, I prefer to have animal people in my life as a opposed to non animal people. Of course I haven't had a roommate since college. My suite mate snuck a kitten into the dorm and my roommate and I never complained. If anything we all got much closer. Those were good times.

But, on the flip side my second ex husband went out and adopted a one year old dog who was not housebroken and I was not amused. Honestly, I never even let him bring it in my house.

I guess when it comes to animals my basic policy is I prefer older ones that are already trained and babies that are being well trained and cleaned up after by their owners. I love animals but I can't stand lazy selfish owners who don't care properly for their pets. Having a pet is a huge commitment and one I'm very happy I made! I'm very committed and grateful for my Siamese cat and I would do just about anything for my sister's poodle but I certainly don't want strange, poorly behaved animals put upon me without my consent. So, all in all I think the problem is more about lazy, irresponsible people than about companion animals per se.

Haha, the only time I get annoyed by it, is when people constantly take pictures with their pet.

Like I understand you have a pet goldfish that doesn't mean you need to take several pictures in a different pose with it.

      meh, it is annoying when you live in a small 2bdrm aprt and you're trying to find roommates but can't because everyone has a pet, and there are no pets allowed. It's too cramped here for pets, anyway (save maybe a gerbil)
      
      that's why personally i won't get pets until i have a decent career and a home.

First off why are you selling to filthy room mates? If you say "I dont want your animal since you cant clean up after yourself" is saying you enjoy filthy room mates. So why not find a clean room mater that will clean up after the animal?

Second its peoples right to have a pet so what the fuck makes you think your in charge of that? Are you going to determine what clothes the universe wears top? supreme lord dictator?

Third a lot of times people own pets when they are younger and the animal is a few years old. I doubt a 13 year old is thinking "Oh no I have to send the dog away at 18". Dogs can live a few years you know and so can cats.

    There are plenty of pet owners who are clean and responsible. I myself own two clean and non-destructive cats; everywhere I look, I have to turn down nice apartments because they don't allow pets. I'm forced to settle for somewhere disgusting or dangerous, just so I don't have to relinquish my cats to a shelter. I am more than willing to pay a separate pet damage deposit, yet so many rental companies absolutely refuse. It's not fair.

You're absolutely right! People should take responsibility for their mess in their life and just take care of their own stupid human issues instead of adopting those beasts and live with them as they are the same species. People who cohabitate with animals are insecure and retarded.
They want something to control. Because they are too weak,selfish, lazy and irresponsible to make children, so they want something that is inferior to them, so they can have a companion in their pathetic life that they won't have to educate and raise because they lack the ability to do that.

  this is going a bit far. there are noble reasons for having pets. but there are too many people who don't put enough thought into it.
  
  People just need to be responsible, considerate, and do things that make sense.
  
  But you do raise the philosophical question of the morality of breeding pets in the first place. interesting to think about.

    The irresponsibility and ignorance are more for things like letting their pets get pregnant/impregnate another pet, feeding them table scraps and/or letting them get obese and then calling them "cute" (newsflash to some of you out there: a fat animal does not equate to a cute animal), and giving the pet away because "we just don't have the time to give him the attention he needs right now!". I actually saw an ad on Facebook for a ten-month-old Labrador, being given away for that reason. Really? They thought a young lab would be an effing couch potato?? See -- ignorance. Pet owners like this should be shot.
    
    On the other hand, responsible pet owners deserve pet-friendly housing options. Don't restrict what is already very limited.
