Is it normal that i'm very concerned about my techs health?

Clarification time, with examples. I don't like plugging in something like my charging cable unless I know I'm gonna get a lot of use out of it, or else it feels like a waste of the 10000 plugs and unplugs. Sometimes I'll want to, let's say, plug in my headphones to my PC and play, but unless it's for a somewhat significant amount of time, I'll avoid it to preserve the health of the 3.5mm connection. I avoided getting headphones with button controls because of this, instead opting for touch controls that you can swipe on infinitely without "damaging" it. This goes for buttons, USB ports, power buttons and so on, basically anything with a less than 5 year life span. I'm pretty sure I'm weird lol, but how weird? Feel free to elaborate with a comment

Most if that stuff will last forever. Except for phone micro USB charge ports.

I worry about this for technology that I literally want to keep for the rest of my life, like games consoles. The reason I want to keep these games consoles for the rest of my life is because of the large game collection I've put together over the years. These games can only be played on their dedicated consoles, but they've completely stopped production of those consoles now. And so once all of these old consoles in the world break, then the ability to play these games is lost forever. Of course you can play them through emulation, and don't get me wrong that is absolutely fantastic, but playing them on the original consoles is the way they were meant to be played. It's like the difference between preserving original film reels and having .mp4 files of the films.

But for things like phones, computers, etc. there's absolutely no danger of them ever stopping production of them, so I don't have to worry if they break, I can always just buy a new one.

I couldn't care less. I've dropped my phone like a billion times and often I don't care about shutting my laptop off even though it being on 24/7 drains the battery.
I'm probably the definition of not being even a little concerned about my techs health and so far so good so i'm probably not changing.

  • Not normal to do that to that extent. They were made to be used and thrown away.

i think you can relax a little.. those things are made for using them. Lets say I use my headphones daily and unplug them multiple times a day, then I don't feel bad that after a few years they don't work anymore.. I used them quite well and things eventually break. Just buy new ones
