Depends. If you're incapable of having a serious conversation because you have to make jokes constantly then I couldn't hang around you. Humor in it's purest form is a defense and coping mechanism for hardships in life that are too difficult to face, and if you're applying that humor to everything in life then I'd rather not hang around someone that can't even handle basic reality.

  il have a serious talk if it has to be serious but if its a conversation wherenhe or she is say "oooo i got new shoes" or "dude i banged a chick" i just cut em off with a relavent joke such ass "my shoe was stuck up my ass one time" or "well i banged two chicks"

It's normal as long as you're genuinely funny.

I learned my lesson on making "jokes" after a fateful car ride to take my friend home.
It was years ago and my friend was doing a pretty good job so I brought up some "strange material" that included everything from a horse to the tasty contents of a salad bowl and I bombed! I got my jokes, but no one else did and it resulted in me being made fun of and "banned" from ever telling a fucking joke in their presence again.

Now, my humor is based more from "within" than salad bowls that have feelings.
