I kind of know how you feel. I left my keyboard behind when I moved (it was a keyboard designed particularly to act like a grand piano). I bought myself another just before Christmas and the relief of having an instrument in the house again is palpable. Being without one was like being without a woman. Sometimes you just want to tickle the ivories and, for that, you need access to some ivories to tickle.
Most definitely normal. In fact, most people I've known who played piano or had lessons admit to seriously wishing they kept things up since stopping. I have a cheap 61-key keyboard and while I can get by with that, it is really annoying when I simply can't play notes due to them not being there and I can't practice dynamic levels since it plays at the same volume no matter how soft or hard I press the keys.
Some relatives of mine had an acoustic piano that never really saw use but they have moved out of that house since. I know that previous neighbors have moved into it though. I might pay them a visit, how I'd love to enjoy proper dynamic levels.
