Is it normal that i never answer my phone?

Everytime I leave to go hang out with my friends, I never pay any attention to my phone, and at the same time my mom still feels the need to call me when I'm with them and leave a ton of voicemails and texts. She gets so mad at me. I hardly use my phone, I'm not a big texter at all. It's just when it comes to answering it from my mom I always fail to pick up, and I'm not even doing it intentionally. I just don't know If I'm so caught up in the moment with whomever I'm with, that I'm just trying to subconsciously avoid her at all costs, IIN?

It's easy. As the only place to text is when you go to the bathroom, text your mom to let her know you are ok, having a good time and what time you'll be home.

that's a good idea to go to the bathroom. but like for example if I was in the mall shopping with a friend, I pretty much ignore myself, like all my attention goes to them, concentrating on what they want to do and where they want to go. I guess I see my phone
as a distraction, a burden to have to step away from a conversation with my friend to have one with my mom, because I see it as, why are you bugging me, and I feel like my friends could feel bothered by it. but if we were walking and she mentions let's use the bathroom before we go, then that would be the perfect opportunity, to call my mom

I'm the same. People in my physical presence get precedence, then phone, finally email. But when someone is worried about you, and you can set their mind at rest, I think you have to make allowances.

yeah, you're right that I need to make an allowance and consider the huge relief my mom gets.

  • Just let her know you're ok. When you grow up you'll realize how it feels to worry and care. I just discovered this lol

@wise yeah I'll probably be like that too when I'm older, but hopefully not that extreme.
