Is it normal that i pull out my hair and "eat" it?

I often pull out my hair, the pain is sort of like a...dare I say it, sick, pleasurable satisfaction to me. I then thread it through my mouth, twist it through my tounge, almost like I'm "French kissing" someone. I heard it's bad for your health but it's almost impossible for me to stop, it's been going on for almost 2 years now. Also, any tips on how to solve this problem? My hair is thinning very quickly...

Maybe try pulling out the already dead ones? You shed throughout the day.

LISTEN: I WAS WATCHING 1,000 WAYS TO DIE (an american tv show that shows absurd ways to die) EATING HAIR WAS ONE OF THEM. I don't know if u do it obsessively, however I would see a doctor. Seriously.

I know how you feel, I pluck my hair out, but I don't eat it. I just drop it on the ground but anyways, you probably have a urge to pull your hair out and that's normal. Most people do it to ease stress.

I know how you feel, I don't eat my hair but I do pull it out on occasion and play with it. It just feels like a sweet release..

Hair CANNOT be digested. It will kill you. Stop it or seek professional help. You most likely need to see a doctor NOW if you have been doing this for some time. Get help!

  • It's trichotillomania, check out their website at tlc.org. Unfortunately there is no cure for it, but therapy and anti-depressants like Prozac/ zoloft etc help. Anyway msg me if u either need to talk/ask questions.

what you are creating in your stomach with all that undigestible hair is called a bezoar (just like in Harry Potter). It is a serious condition and you need to seek help.

It can kill you because you can't digest it properly

Trichophagia is a compulsive need to consume hair. Swallowing your hair is not only unhealthy, it's also composed of proteins that your body cannot digest.. which means.. you've got a 2 year old ball of hair chillin' in your stomach.
