Is it normal that i really want to have an obe?

The title pretty much says it all. I'm just curious as to whether or not it's normal that I want to have an out of body experience pretty badly. Every time I lucid dream I feel like I'm almost there, but I always wake up. Please Comment with your opinion. Thank you.

I had one a few months ago. I didn't come completely out of my body. I saw a "being" (non-human) that was looking back at me. It didn't really scare me. I did have a slight tinge of panic, but I managed to relax. Unfortunately, I must have relaxed a little too much because, my astral self went back into my body.

Ever since this I have been trying to master Astral Projecting. I keep getting told that I am supposed to meditate and astral project to find "oneness". I have heard that astral projecting is possible through meditation. I really need to master this because, there are so many questions I have that are interconnected to this phenomena.

Yes, as fantasy can make us so jolly but chances are, it will never really happen. It is normal to WANT it but not to get it.

    Very normal.
Why wouldn't you want an OBE?

I think your normal for wanting one. Meditation can help and learning to let go will get easier with time and patience.

Long time ago I really wanted one too.. Tried to achieve it by different meditation techniques and occult systems, energy work and even certain opiates and hallucinogens. i think what I've had was an OBE, and I had those experiences a few times. But I was so messed up on drugs, dehydration and lack of sleep that i can't really tell you how sucessful i was.

Yes, it's normal to want that. If you mediate you can make it happen. It's going to take you a long while, to be honest with you. But if you meditate, relax, and focus enough you'll be able to do it.

I've been wanting to try them for awhile now. I want to hit the astral plane and become more aware, but a part of me is scared. There are books and websites on the subject, but you may have to order them. Awhile ago, I went to B&N and they have a large "new age" section, but I couldn't find anything on astral travel/OBEs

I've had them and I can honestly say they were some of the most interesting experiences of my life. When people talk about them, we say it's like floating above yourself, looking down on yourself. Yet we all acknowledge that is a bad description because you can't actually see yourself, nor are you up in the air. You're just "outside" you, rather than "inside" you, looking out. It's more that you feel that way rather than experience being actually outside yourself.

My longest one was during an English class aged 15 (I was sleeping atrociously badly in response to exam stress; something like 15-30 minutes per night). The OoBE was accompanied with a complete feeling of weightlessness. For want of a better analogy, I was the ghost of myself, let free from my body. I wasn't scared; more curious, and also very serene and peaceful.

When you awoke did you ever feel like you were falling abruptly?

Yeah, I get that a lot but I was always completely conscious when I had OoBEs. It was part of my regular day. The feeling seems to slip away slowly as you fade back into your own body.
